Hear those chimes?  It’s me in my ice cream truck serving up scoops of game reviews I’ve recently written at GamerDad.com!  Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two.  I’d appreciate it.  OK let’s begin!

Nintendo and Nekter Juice Bar Team Up!

This Summer, Nintendo and Nekter Juice Bar are teaming up to bring us some flavors inspired by popular Switch games.  Last year Nintendo did the same thing with Cold Stone Creamery, which made me sad because they had a Kirby flavor but there isn’t a Cold Stone Creamery near me!  But for some reason, there are TONS of Nekter Juice Bars around so I got to try all three flavors here!  So let’s take a look at them!

Murtop (Switch)

When I was a kid, one of the few arcade games that could pull me away from Pac-Man was Dig Dug!  (other ones included BurgerTime, Pengo, and Q*bert)  So when was asked if I wanted to review a game that combined aspects of Dig Dug and Bomberman, I was like, “HECK YEAH!”  In Murtop, you play as a rabbit who can burrow underground to collect carrots while avoiding angry moles.  You can fight back by laying bombs that explode in all directions, similar to Bomberman.  Just don’t get hit by the explosions yourself!

Wobbledogs (Switch)

Take care of your own mutant pups in Wobbledogs for Switch and PC (reviewed on Switch here).  Feed them, clean up after them, and breed them in this virtual pet simulator.  Kind of reminded me of Viva Pinata in a few ways.

Xiaomei and the Flame Dragon’s Fist (Switch)

Kung-Fu Master was a super popular arcade game in the early 80s and is one of the first examples of a side-scrolling beat ‘em up.  I remember seeing it everywhere in arcades back then, and the port on the NES was also fairly big.  If you like that style of game, you may want to check out Xiaomei and the Flame Dragon’s Fist on Switch and PC (reviewed on Switch here).  It’s like a 16-bit upgrade to Kung-Fu Master.  Two marital artists, Xiaomei and her sister Xiaoyin are training to master two techniques.  Xiaoyin is mastering the Dark Dragon Fist while Xiaomei learns the Flame Dragon’s Fist.  Xiaoyin becomes jealous of Xiaomei’s mastery of the art.  So when Xiaoyin goes missing and trouble starts brewing from the mountain where the Dark Dragon resides, Xiaomei sets off to find her sister and defeat whatever evils come her way.

Nachocado (Switch)

Nacho monsters want to turn all the avocados into guacamole so they can dip into them, so it’s up to you to help two avocado halves to stop the nachos and save their brethren.  NachoCado is an arcade style action game that is like a cross between Pong and Breakout, mixed with single screen platformers like Bubble Bobble.

Brave Soldier: Invasion of Cyborgs (PS4)

The title says it all.  Cyborgs are invading and a brave army soldier dude must shoot them all in this 2-D sidescrolling run and gun platform 16-bit styled action title.

Uzzuzzu My Pet (Switch)

A large orange dog, a fat pink cat, a cute grey and white kitten, and a little white puppy with something always in its mouth are the stars of Uzzuzzu My Pet.  Supposedly they are in short little CG animated segments on TikTok, and are popular in Korea…I guess?  I don’t know, I don’t mess with TikTok.  And now they’re in a virtual coloring book on your Switch!

Laserpitium (PS4)

Laserpitium is a standard 2-D side scrolling shooter.  Choose from three ships with different kinds of firepower and battle though various stages shooting all the bad guys.

And that’s all for now!  Thanks for reading and posting ‘likes’ and comments on my reviews.  Really do appreciate it.  Later!  --Cary

I love the art on the Kirby Berry Dream cup. I may have to get one at a Nektar near me.

You'll have to let me know what you think of them if you get to try them out.
