I have been listening to King Diamond lately. I grew up listening to his stuff and Mercyful Fate. That makes for a good sound track to survival horror game.
Hope for survival horror games?

Shinji Mikami may just revive the genre of survival horror in 2014. He's the guy who brought us Resident Evil,so this does make me hopeful. I've been a fan of RE from the start. I've played the good ones(RE4,RE:Code Veronica,RE:Revelations),and the bad ones(RE:Survivor,RE:Dead Aim,RE:Outbreak,RE6) yet I still love it. Even like the movies, thought they have little to do with the games anymore. Just like watching Milla Jovovich and crew kick some ass. I have Resident Evil books and comics(from the first two games) as well the CG movies on Blu-Ray. So the possibility of Mikami doing something that goes back to basics has me excited. Just wish we didn't have to wait so long. At least we know it will be for PS4. I have been needing some good survival horror for years now.
I like my survival horror games good and bloody! The Evil Within looks like it will deliver on that. Besides the RE games I did enjoy Fatal Frame,Siren,The Suffering, and of course Silent Hill. That's another franchise that can be hit or miss. I like Silent Hill Downpour, which I've been playing lately. May get the Vita game and see if it's any good. Why did good survival horror sort of fade away? Makes me wonder,as it's a really good genre for fans of horror films and those who like thrillers of all sorts.
The next gen consoles offer up some great new ways to scare the daylights out of gamers. I read some things about The Last Of Us the other day. Talked about how amazing the sound design is for that upcoming game. The sounds the infected make are supposed to be terrifying and creepy as hell! That's an element that is useful as our minds create a picture of what is around the corner. You feel like you are the one about to be jumped from something in the darkness. The sharper graphics will allow game designers to create even more elaborate monsters and environments.
This shot looks like a scene out of Silent Hill. I will never forget playing the first SH game on PS1. It was so unlike anything I had played in this genre before. And sound played a big part in getting me spooked. That and the fact my vision was limited due to the fog. The music was great in that one, too.
Splattering of brains! Just a bit unsavory...but at the same time it's just lots of fun. This shot reminds me of Hellraiser for some odd reason. Why couldn't they do a Hellraiser game? That might be cool,as Pinhead is a great villain with a voice just made for a horror game. The Hellraiser films are like Resident Evil to me in that they seem to get worse with each outing. Did I mention Resident Evil:Operaration Raccoon City? Not a bad shooter, but does not resemble RE and is not scary in any way, shape or form. So what's the point of even doing it? I already have plenty of games just like it that do combat much better. I want something that is absolutely terrifying. Now that would be art.
What I'm listening to today..............
