Games Beaten

-Hello Neighbor 2 (PS5)

HN2 is a stealth game with little consequence for getting caught. You get thrown out of whatever building you were in and loose puzzle items but you don't die and that's important. The hostile NPC AI can be frustrating since they tend to show up right where you need to be and puzzles can be obtuse. But the biggest annoyance to me is that the game is not a complete story, at all. It ends on a huge cliffhanger after revealing almost nothing.

-Shantae and the Seven Sirens (Switch)

I feel bad saying this game is underwhelming, and maybe that is because the previous games have been so good, but...yeah. The game still looks and sounds great and the fully animated cutscenes have convinced me I want a Shantae anime. I miss the full animal transformations—these feel more like power-ups—and the boss fights, in particular, fail to live up to what I'd expect from WayForward. It's not a bad game, certainly, but I expected more from this series.

Games Bought

April was another light acquisitions month. My brother bought me a game called Factorio (Switch), which is a crash-on-an-alien-planet-and-build-a-giant-factory-to-eventually-make-a-spaceship-in-order-to-escape game. You know, one of those. Other than that I did spring for all three of the PS+ games in April. Immortals of Aveum (PS5) is a fantasy-themed FPS (which stands for First Person Spellcaster, I guess?). Reviews seem split but it sounds like a fun way to blow through a few hours. Minecraft Legends (PS5) is something my kids will probably get into if I ever get around to downloading it lol. Skul: The Heo Slayer (PS5) looks like a fun 2D action game. The trailer sold me on that one.
