In which...oh man, it's been that long...

I recently purchased a refurbished laptop (nothing fancy, one of the Acer Aspire models) after having spent so many years without a laptop (the Samsung Chromebook I own still works but its OS stopped receiving support two years ago). I don't know why I went so far like this. The idea was not to acquire a gaming PC/laptop but something good enough to handle jack-of-all-trades utilities. So far, it's worked out well for me.

As a result, I wanted to get back into some of the blogs/message boards that I used to frequent in the past years. Imagine my relief that Pixlbit is still going on. I've since joined some Discord servers where I discuss all sorts of topics (gaming included; including this site's server) but it never felt the same as when I posted here.

So, brief status update on myself: still in the same location/house, still employed by the University of Arkansas as an evening shift custodian. Life is generally good. I recently turned 44 and it was as low-key a celebration as I could make it (I was planning to visit the parents as I do every year; both of them came back from a trip to Canada with Covid. They're better now. Visit is postponed to later date).

Gaming wise? I acquired a PS5 in March of 2023 and I've enjoyed my time with it so far. Still playing my Xbox Series S and Switch very frequently. Recent game juggling:
- Elder Scrolls Online (XSS): plays well on console, recently completed the base game campaign. For some reason, back in April, I had an urge to start an MMORPG on these current consoles so for some insane reason I started two at the same time. The other?
- Final Fantasy XIV (PS5): also plays very well on console. Also completed the base game campaign.
- Rise of the Ronin: Team Ninja's attempt at an open-world ARPG is their most accessible game and a lot of fun. I have fun experimenting with the different weapons and stances. Story wise, this can't hold a candle to Ghost of Tsushima but it works on a utilitarian level.
- Dying LIght 2: I don't play this as much as I have in the past but I've put well over 400 hours in this beast. Sometimes I just wanna kill a bunch of zombies. Its parkour/combat loop is still compelling to me.
- COD Warzone 2.0: only with my friends. If they didn't play this, I wouldn't bother.
- Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: picked my copy up last week. I still haven't finished the juggernaut that is Tears of the Kingdom (taking my time with it, honestly) but I couldn't wait to jump into this. Truly adorable and fun to play. This Zelda drinks smoothies and likes to take naps; they couldn't make her more relatable if they tried.

I'll post more soon but this should be enough for a returning post. I hope that life is treating all of you well!

I really liked Echoes of Wisdom.  I just beat it a few days ago.  It took me 100 hours to beat Tears of the Kingdom, and only 35 to beat Echoes of Wisdom.  And that's a good thing.  I felt the last two 3D Zelda games were a bit overbloated anyway.  Echoes of Wisdom MIGHT end up being my GOTY, it just depends on how good Ys X Nordics and Mario & Luigi Brothership end up being.  Those are the last two big games this year I want to play.

Good to hear from you. I've been exploring reddit lately, both for gaming and music. I'm on Discord too but only for a Music League (an app) thing I'm doing with Facebook/college friends. I just use my gamertag, aiwithwarpdrive, for all of it (except Facebook).

I've been watching the PS5 lately for price drops and cheaper versions of the console. I suppose I could consider a PS5 Xmas purchase but I'm still not sure about it. Money's tight.

Good to hear from you! I had the same relief when I logged in again a while back.
