Venetica the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, versions were released in North America on January 18, 2011, and is published by DTP Entertainment and developed by Deck13.

The story of Venetica takes place in the 16th century, and death is a physical beingwho follows the way of a group called the Corpus and every generation they must select the successor to death. The game takes place after the council chooses a necromancer to control death and he decides to bring havoc and destruction to the whole world. The necromancer has immortalized himself through the current death and the corpus and they cant stop him, the only one who can is Scarlett ( you )who is the daughter of death, who must grow her powers and save her father who is death, and the world from the necromancer.

Venetica is a action rpg with a few twist added in.Scarlett the daughter of death is armed not only with conventional weapons but also has the power to intersct with the spirit world. As you progress through the story you unlock other abilities wicj allow you to use powerful spells. One particular unique feature in the game comes in the form of ``twilight energy´´ an energy pool wich allows players to get a second chance and resurrect in combat should they die.

Unfortunately for ever great part of Venetica is equally opposed by some broken desighn or broken feature while combat can be fun the camera always gets snagged on the player or a wall etc, most of the loot to be found is almost always gold and takes away from the excitement of finding something cool, and gaining new abilities means making long journeys to the citys central district, to locate a trainer and this can become annoying after the fourth or fith time.

So bottom line is the biggest problem with Venetica lies in its overall presentation and the current state of console rpgs this is unforgivable, the graphics lighting is decent and the art work is nice, the unstable frame rate is bothersome. The sound, the music is generic, and the voice acting is rushed. Thr game control good but the camera flat out sucks, the game is not bad but definitely has its share of issues the map desighn is poorly done, and the quest tracker will have you wondering what the hell is going on lol. Players who can get past the bad will find an enjoyable action rpg with a interesting story and some very unique moments, its not a bad game but with so many real good rpgs i cant recommend this one.

wow i think this is the lowest scored game you have reviewed.  I'll remember to avoid this one.  Seems like a cool concept, just a broken game.

Too bad, cause that premise did sound interesting, even if I probably never would have ran into it.

well the games only like $10 and at that price certainly worth it, and you may like it cause it does have alot of secrets etc.

I actually liked and enjoyed this game quite a bit. It was one of the rare circumstances in which a bad game sucked me in and I couldn't stop playing it (Although I personally didn't think it was that bad). I did however encounter a couple of glitches and drops in frame-rate, but I forgave it and kept going onward. My BIGGEST problem with the game was that I kept going up the wrong side of the ladders, and I had to go back down in order to correct myself! lol

Like I said though, I can't quite put my finger onto it, but I really did get sucked into this game and ended up liking it! Different strokes for different folks though I suppose!

I quite like the style, reminds me a little of Zelda, it's just a shame it hits so many bad points!

I have it digitally for my 360 on Ben's recommendation. I haven't played that much of it but it seemed pretty cool.

It's a good game but the 2.5 is accurate from a solely technical stand point. Aka, Venetica really needed more time in the oven and more play-testing/quality control before it was released.

I didn't have too many problems with it but yeah, there are a few bugs and I even read somewhere the 360 version is a bit more finicky & tempermental than the pc version. (I own the pc version)

A shame too because story-wise,setting-wise, and character wise I actually preferred Venetica marginally over Fable 1 and 2. (And at least for me the game was more of a 3 or 4 out of 5. Really, I loved it that much for whatever odd reason!)

The PC version was in fact better then the 360 version and the technicle problems that plagued the 360 killed the game for me especially the camera catching on Scarlet and on wall etc, it just frusterates me highly when a game that could have been anothe Neir gets rushed out the door without the time it needed to be the great game it could have been.

It is frustrating indeed! It's sad when a game has the potential to shine but it doesn't receive the same care & fine tuning on every platform.

Never heard of it. The premise of the game was intriguing to me though, so I looked it up on youtube. I'd like to say I have the patience to tolerate such issues but I really don't. Technically it looks a mess and could've gone with a bit longer in development. Real shame because it genuinely sounds like it could've been great.

Should have been could have been the fact is its a broken game some people say its alright but i played it on a brand new xbox HD slim and the frame rate was terrible.

I was interested in picking this game up for a while, at least until I heard about the unstable framerates and glitchy quest progression.  I'm surprised that the 360 version suffered with the instability, though.  In general, PC ports run quite well on the hardware, and it's always the PS3 version that is broken.  I suppose this game was just damaged to begin with.  It is a shame that it turned out this way because it did look like something I would have enjoyed.

Yea the story and game should have been really good but the game is broken and bad mapping of levels didnt help, but its a shame cause the game had the potential to be a really good game.
