Happy Valentines Day! I got you all some valentines: game reviews I’ve recently written over at GamerDad.com! Show the love by clicking on the links and reading as many as you can, and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK let’s begin!
Quite a lot of Pokémon stuff here. Not sure if it’s because of the 30th anniversary coming up or what. A few years ago, I bought a Pokémon Valentine kit that has those little valentines like you would give out in elementary school. But I didn’t write about them because they were on clearance at Hallmark after Valentine’s Day. However, I went to Hallmark again recently and they were still selling them, so I figured, what the heck and decided to write about them anyway. So let’s take a look at them!
I saw these Pokémon themed Goldfish cheese crackers at the grocery store and had to get them. So let’s take a look at them!
A close relative got me this can of Pokémon soup from Campbells, so I thought I’d take a look at it here. Get your spoons ready!
Super Mario Galaxy Movie Cereal Collab With Lucky Charms and Trix
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is teaming up with famous cereals Lucky Charms and Trix for special editions of those cereals! Even though the movie isn’t going to be out until April, you can get these cereals now, at least at Wal-Mart (that’s where I got them). So let’s take a look at them!
The two Tomba games are some of my favorites on the PSOne. They’re 2.5D platformers that are kind of like a cross between Klonoa and the Wonder Boy games. You play as a caveboy wild kid with pink hair named Tomba, and you fight these evil pig guys. I remember when I first saw this game at the very first E3 I ever went to and someone dressed as Tomba gave me a demo disc. I got to review both games in the series when I worked at The Dallas Morning News, too! Did you know that one of the guys who helped make the Tomba games also used to work for Capcom and helped make some of the early Ghosts N Goblins and Mega Man games there? A year or so ago they re-released this game on Switch and even made a special edition of it. I normally don’t spend that kind of money on these things, but sometimes I splurge and I got it. I’ve had it for a while and decided I would show it off when I didn’t have many games to review. Well we’ve gotten to that point so here it is!
Dole is no stranger to video game promotions when it comes to their bananas. Anyone remember Super Monkey Ball? The Dole logo was placed all over the game, from the bananas you collect to balloons and blimps in the background. And now Dole is teaming up with Minecraft for an even weirder promotion! So let’s take a look at it.
There’s imitating a game, and then there’s downright ripping off a game. Which do you think Heroes Battle Awakening is? This is pretty much just the same game as Plants vs. Zombies, with a new coat of paint. It now just has a cartoony medieval fantasy theme.
Mixing a Breakout/Arkanoid style game with a roguelike may sound like a good idea, but the way they did it here is very passive, so I’m not so sure. Anyway, that’s kind of what Hextreme Void is like.
And that’s all for now! Thanks for reading my reviews and posting ‘likes’ and comments on them! I really do appreciate it! Happy Valentines Day! Later! --Cary
