Just like you the only reason I have Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom is because the girl loved it. It's also why I have Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur 4 and 5. It's a genre I've always wanted to get into, but I find that barrier hard to break. Perhaps if I picked up an arcade stick....

Fighting games. I like 'em but not my bag.
Been playing then since the NES days of Kung Fu! Hell yeah thats a fighting game, tough one at that too. I even remember playing they original Street Fighter game, that was a piece of shit and Capcom switching it up for Street Fighter 2 was the best move ever. Well maybe the blood code for Mortal Kombat on the Genesis was. Still got that game too!
I liked playing the old MvsC games cause of how balls to the wall crazy they were. Remember Cyclops optic blast encompassing the whole screen, I was young well entrenched in comics, and this game totally hooked me at the local arcade. Loved it!
But like all people, eventually you have a falling out with some stuff you used to really enjoy. We all have on again/off again relationships with stuff. Video games ended up not being something I would really purchase for myself unless I really wanted the game, or I enjoyed the subject matter it depicted with it.
Also games were friggin' expensive. I remember saving up for Resident Evil Director's Cut only to return it having buyers remorse, which I still get for every game I purchase.
But Marvel Vs Capcom 3 wasn't a purchase for me. My wife wanted it, and for really one reason only. Deadpool is in it. She loves him. If the game would allow her, I am sure she would have a whole team of Wade's kicking ass all over the screen.
Neither of us are very good at fighting games, as demonstrated by our 3 hours of Missions doing, where you learn moves and combos. We got stuck on the 3rd mission.
We need to get another controller so we can fight each other. Then shit will hit the fan in our household.
