A weekend of ups and downs......

What started off as a pretty awesome weekend has ended pretty badly. Sitting here pondering things and just wanted to write a bit about it. Tornadoes swept across northeast Oklahoma just a few hours ago. We battened down the hatches as we normally do. Not unusual here in May. Happens every year in fact. But these were monster tornadoes they were reporting on TV,some were almost F4 level.  We saw them tracking their way up the highway toward us. One touched down in Shawnee and did massive damage, killing one person.  I've seen the destruction of tornadoes close up living in this state. Seen it happen just a few miles from where I was one time.  But it never seems to get any easier. Seeing the live camera shots of Shawnee from the air afterward was shocking to me. I thought about how I'd feel if it was my town,my home. My prayers go out to them and their families. The storm started around Edmond, which is where my brother now lives. He's fine and the town is okay. So is mine, and Tulsa was spared from damage. These things happen so fast. Played out over the course of just a few hours. I know some hit up in Kansas too. There were some bad ones in Texas very recently. I could not take any more of the storm coverage and just changed the channel randomly. Landed on the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame Induction. And it was just starting on the final inductees....Rush. Had not seen it yet. It was awesome, funny, cool, and heartwarming. Made my day,and I really needed that badly. So I've had some ups and downs. But I have so much to be thankful for. Mainly that my family is alright, and that most everyone else's is okay too. Now the rebuilding begins for some folks. But they will have a lot of help, because people in this state are good about that sort of thing. Hope your weekend was soooooo much better. Had to be....

Oh yeah, the ones in Texas recently killed a few people and leveled even more homes, the wreckage I was seeing on TV was awful. Luckily, we were ok, we were mostly worried about my dad, who was driving in this stuff, but luckily far away from all the destruction, cause he's still fine. I really do hope everyone that's alive can help rebuild, thoughts are with them.

My weekend was in fact pretty good though, been getting started on editing together my demo reel to send off to an apprenticeship and a Masters program, SNL was decent last night for the finale (lots of gay jokes, for some reason), and got to go to the Byron Nelson tournament in Irving earlier today since dad won tickets. Couldn't see much of what was going on, but some Humana reps there gave me a pedometer and calculated my body fat/skeletal muscle mass and all that, which I've been wanting to do anyway, so it was a success.

I walked through a town that had been leveled by an F4 tornado about 20 years ago. Will never forget it,was like an atomic bomb had gone off. Nothing left but foundation on lots of homes. It's a terrible thing, but the town was rebuilt in a year or so. Hope you get the apprenticeship, that would be a great opportunity. And SNL was pretty decent, always did think Affleck was funny. Kanye West scared me! What the hell was that all about? Has he lost his shit? Seems like it. I did a lot of gaming yesterday, even started two new ones. Resonance Of Fate and Shadows Of The Damned. Both look really good. Went down to Mayfest and looked at over-priced art. Saw Iron Man 3! It was fantastic, loved that film.

I was in a tornado once, in Minnesota.  The sky turned freaking green.  It was pretty scary.  That was enough tornadoes for me.

Hope things get saner down there!

Unfortunately they only got worse. As the whole country is aware of now. Just so tragic....especially about those school kids.

Hope your area is okay,Rodney. I knew you'd dealt with this not too long ago. Today it's just awful here. I can't escape the images, they are everywhere I go. Moore is all over the news. Those poor people went thru this back in 1999,too! It's just so sad and tragic.

I had a busy weekend but certainly nothing like that. Glad you're okay. I just can't fathom having everything I own smashed and scattered around like that.

It's too much for me to wrap my head around today after what happened to Moore yesterday. You can't imagine the feeling of walking thru a levelled town. But I've done it more than I care to remember. I just feel so bad for all the families and parents there.
