Device was started by David Draiman ( Disturbed ) and Geno Lenardo ( Filter ). Device does have a Disturbed sound to it, mainley because David is singing. The band has a different sound than Disturbed. Why am I comparing the two? Well, some people think because David is singing it sounds like Disturbed... That is were the comparison ends for me. He has such a distinctive voice that it can be confused with Disturbed if you do not really listen to the music.

TRACK LIST FOR DEVICE:DEVICE

1. You Think you Know

2. Penance

3. Vilify

4. Close my eyes forever ( Feat. Lizzy Hale )

5. Out of line ( Feat. Serj Tankian, Terry Geezer-Butler )

6. Hunted

7. Opinion ( Feat. Tom Morello )

8. War of Lies

9. Haze ( Feat. M. Shadows )

10. Through it all ( Feat. Glenn Hughes )

My favorite track off the album is Vilify. I think this a great album and I give it.

Four \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ out of five.

Now My METAL HEADS, GO FORTH AND METAL!

David has such a unique voice. Many try to copy him and fail miserably. His vocals come from a place deep within, and you can't fake that. I must get this album. That is too good to miss out on. Nice line-up of guests on it. That Lita Ford cover is awesome!

I agree. It is a well put together album and a good choice of cover and Featured guests.

I had heard that David was in a new band. Is this a side project, or did he leave Disturbed? It sounds good. That cover art is intense! It reminds me of the Matrix.

I think it is a switch over to a new band. I really have not read much into it.

I tried listening to the entire album that you posted without bias, but I just can't listen to it without thinking this is Distubed 2.0. I dig it though, but it just sounds like Disturbed's sound was copy/pasted. Even the guitar/drums have a Disturbed sound to them in my opinion. Either way though, it's good stuff.

Side note: Did you see Chester Bennington (Singer of Linkin Park) is now the frontman of Stone Temple Pilots?! How crazy is that?

It is completely different from Disturbed. You need to do a side by side to really hear it.

I really need to listen to metal.  But I'm afraid if I start listening to this stuff, my parents will think I'm off my medication. Wink

Dammit, I just want to shred!

The instrumental sounds closer to industrial than nu metal to me, but yeah David's voice is going to make everything sound a bit like Disturbed. It does sound a bit different to me though, he seems to be hitting higher notes more often and growling a bit less. "Close My Eyes" was a cool cover.

It is industrial now. Disturbed is more NuMetal. I was hoping some one would hear the difference.

This is that Finnish band I mentioned a few days ago. I like this song quite a bit. There's a lot of Metallica and Megadeth influence in these guys among other things especially in the way he sings, but the choruses have a different type of influence and they sound nice too. The album art is pretty cool and unique too.

I like this song by Operatika, her voice is really nice and the guitarists are pretty good.

This one is my favorite that I'm sharing this week, it's some symphonic black metal from Vesperian Sorrow. The name always makes me think of Tales of Vesperia the game. This song and band rocks, I love this style of black metal with lots of melody, symphonic parts, but it's also super heavy.

Yeah, I know. I really like the Disturbed stuff better, but this is not bad for a side project and IM.

I used to be a big fan of Disturbed years ago, but I haven't heard them in a while. There's indeed a really a big difference of sound between Disturbed and Device: whereas Disturbed was straight Nu/Alternative Metal, this seems more like Industrial Metal as someone said above. Gotta say that I really liked the songs posted there.

Thanks Alex, I thought so too.
