'XBOX..go home!'
I'm not impressed. Well I am, Microsoft just revealed a pretty decent multimedia box. As a gaming console though, I can't comment because what they showed us was the very bare minimum.
I'm struggling for talking points here. The 'In-Engine', not 'Gameplay', footage they showed of CoD Ghosts was pretty impressive but it's still just another annual iteration of the CoD franchise. Same with the EA Sports stuff they showed, the footage was identical to the opening sequences in all the current gen franchises!
I've been swaying towards Sony for a while now and I feel their reveal showed a lot more promise and they didn't even show their hardware! Obviously it's too early to spell doom and gloom for Microsoft but their subscription model is staying put and a lack of backwards compatibility does not spell promise.
We'll know more at E3 and I think that's where the real battle will be fought. The war won't be decided this year either. I'd urge caution when deciding which console to buy, waiting later down the road seems like the best option.
Matt
The Xbox one just showed me a glorified mancave for a rpg gamer like myself i saw nothing that convinced me that this will be an online sports, fps, entertainment center and nothing more oh yea and Kinect activated really!!! I dont think they had a house full of kids in mind when deciding this stupid feature im going for the ps4 they will have to really show me something to convince me otherwise.
LOL glad I'm not the only one who laughed at that voice command. :p
And yeah. I'm not interested in a console that's supposed to be a water cooler, a cable box that plays games or a "Trojan Horse". I want a console that's built around a strategy that's "console first", and MS clearly has no interest in that anymore. This was a disappointment.
Oh, it was aimed at gamers alright. Namely the hardcore sports and COD fans. It was a far cry from the diverse range of content and games showcased by Sony back in February--you'd think MS would want to match that, and would easily be able to 3 months later. But I guess not.
The thing is that I wasn't that impressed with the Pre-Rendered Cut Scenese either. So if the games look current gen, and video cut scenes look so-so, where is the WOW factor of owning a next gen console? Let me use that bing snap-in to search for prices on a PS4 please.
