Fuck Microsoft. This is the nail in the coffin. I don't give a fuck if you give me the greatest game on earth, I'm not supporting you. Especially when Sony and Steam are going out of their way to support the independant. I was willing to forgive your atrocious launch if things got better, but not now.

That is one reason I am getting a Ouya.

I don't know about the Ouya... I know there are original titles coming to it, but right now it just seems like an old school emulator/indie gaming machine, which I can already do on my pc. Do you know anything more about it? If you know more than me, please let me know!

Go to www.ouya.tv and it is all there.

The tech specs aren't phenomenal, but everything else I just read seems pretty freaking sweet!

I think they want to get it in the market and go from there.

I'm with ya Blake. The Indie scene is great. It seems like everything I hear about this new "console" is geared towards nickel and diming us to death. Money Mouth

Seriously, this is going to hurt them a lot. How much money did they make off of Summer of Arcade? Um, are you forgetting Bastion, Braid, and Limbo? Fucking retards.

Sony seems to be take a page more from Steam's strategy. That is pretty incredible and could lead to more diverse games and prices. The negatives of the Xbox One keep stacking up. What I read about what Sony is doing with the PS4 in the indie scene in the Game Informer was really impressive!

Sony seem to be doing really well last year, after the collossal failure of their launch last generation. They're focusing on games, they're supporting the little guys... I'm definitely buying one.

I just left Gamestop a little while ago on my lunch break and four employees all said f#%k the One there getti n g PS4s i have a feeling Microsoft screwed up big time with there worthless system and all of them said the same thing most of think the used games and 24 hour online is crap and they want nothing to do with it.

Nobody I've talked to are getting one. Plus10 have even talked about not covering the new console in our reviews, although we're not big and I highly doubt that will do anything but hinder our views lol.

Sticking it to the little guy! Way to go, Microsoft. That truly blows and just goes to show you they care very little about innovation. Maybe that's why games have become so predictable these days.

Yes. The words "bunch of cunts" comes to mind when speaking about them. However, I believe the lack of innovation lies in the skyrocketing costs of game development, not a single company. Although, the extreme costs could be blamed on companies not using their money wisely enough. Not everything needs to be a AAA release. There has to be a gap between indie and AAA and these companies need to start working towards it.

I may not agree with the sailor mouth, but at least your posts are to-the-point. :)

I've never had any version of XBox, mostly because their offerings weren't ample enough to justify paying for the systems or the online services, so I'm a bit out of the loop on their policies in general.  However, I'm vaguely aware that Microsoft hasn't exactly been friendly with indie teams for the 360.

I think looking at their strategies for the systems - how and to whom they market them - it may be disappointing, but it's hardly shocking.  Heck, the reveal presentation showed off only one game, and unsurprisingly it was a Call of Duty (BUT THIS ONE HAS DOGGIES).  The CoD and Halo series, perhaps along with annualized sport franchises, are the bread-and-butter of these consoles, and it's where Microsoft focuses their attention with the system.  It sucks to be an indie developer or even an indie fan with that system, and surely it's Microsoft's loss for not investing more into that market, but for whatever it's worth, at least those games are able to find markets on other platforms.

And maybe you're being too hard on the XBox One.  As a gamer, I think one of the most difficult parts of the hobby is that I can't watch TV.

Sorry about the language. It's so engrained in my countries culture that I kind of forget that other people are actually offended by swearing anymore. Also, I don't think I needed to say anything else, and I didn't want to waste elegant phrases on such pathetic piece of refuse.

Yeah, I was always more of a Sony/PC guy than an Xbox guy, but still, the 360 was hardly a bad console. Even though they weren't exactly friendly with them, they still offered independent game devs a spotlight to get their games noticed. Now they MUST be published through microsoft. Well, I guess Notch won't be supporting the xbox, and neither will Jonathon Blow.

As for the releases? Maddern and Call of Duty? Call of Duty is coming to every other console as well, so it's not exactly a selling point, and Maddern, while certainly a strong series, isn't really what most gamers want, especially those of us who don't live in America, and in general just don't give a damn about NFL.

Ah, don't worry about the language.  I'm the last one to be casting judgement on that kind of thing (in person, I tend to have a pretty foul mouth myself), and I'm not nearly so puritan.

I think it was on an episode of the Giant Bombcast not so long ago that they mentioned how the 360 and Call of Duty are almost intrinsically linked: apparently most, if not all, of the ads for the games feature gameplay footage from the 360 version, and it's become the de facto home for the franchise.  Microsoft has that consumer base pretty locked down for that series and for a lot of those kinds of games and gamers.  It's cross-platform, but the 360 is its real "home," and the fact that a new CoD was announced at the reveal demonstrates that further.  By comparison, look at Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy; those games have seen releases on the 360 as well, but they're linked - I'd even call it a natural "fit" - on the Playstation.

I suppose. Still, I know A LOT of people who played CoD on PS3. When I feel like a game of CoD game myself, I play on PC, because dedicated servers allow me to play without whiney little bitches complaining every three seconds. I do get where you're coming from though. However, it's still not really a major selling point when you can purchase the franchise on other systems.

I don't really understand the change of heart from Microsoft, they had such an amzing partnership with indie games this gen it seems like a real kick in the teeth for them, plus they seem to be forgetting the ethos of people who make them in the first place. I really do hope that they are forced to learn a massive lesson with the x box one, one them hits them hard in the wallet.

Blake Turner Staff Writer

Yeah. Well this was Sony last year to be fair. Sony supported indie, don't get me worng, they weren't colossal dicks, but they made some MASSIVE mistakes with their launch, and got cocky. I think Microsoft is at that stage now, where they've become the big gamin company with their second console, and think they have a monopoly on the market and can do whatever they want. This is going to hurt them in the long run though, because you know notch won't agree to this, so there will be no Minecraft or any other Notch games; and you know Jonathon Blow won't agree to this, so there goes Braid and any follow up games. I also highly doubt Phil Fish will be on board with this, so they also lose Fez, another popular indie game. Minecraft by itself will be a huge loss for them, so I think they kind of screwed themselves over there.
