Tsugunai: Atonement is a rpg developed by Cattle Call and published by Atlus on November 29,2001.

The main charater played by you in the game is Reise, and hes sort of a mercenary who takes jobs to earn a living. The game begins as Reise climbs an anceint tower to retreive the treasure orb, a sacred artifact and doing this he angers the gods, who retaliate by seperating Reises body and soul. In order to atone for his sins Reise must demonstrate acts of kindness and courage by assisting the citizens of a small fishing village, he does this by taking control of there body and completing the task for them.

The game is broken up into 35 different quest. Some involve Reise and some involve other characters, once you complete a quest the story advances usually through a short cut scene, and the story advances, and although the game involves many different characters the game treats them as equal except for weapons which depending on the character, for instance you may take over an old woman and obviously you cant fight effectively but she may be able to use magic or a bow etc, and items are carried over from quest to quest regardless who Reise possesses.

The misical score was created by composer Yasunori Mitsuda and you might know him from the Chrono series, Mario party,Xenogears,Shadow Hearts, and Tobal no 1, so the sound effects and voice acting is not as great at the musical score but its not bad by any means, the graphics are a little bland but not bad they serve there purpose, the gameplay is where this game really shines when Reise is in battles he acts alone, there is no party members althiugh with that said he can summon mystical creatures to fight with, combat is based on actual physical encounters not random like sone rpgs and the game employs a elaborate block and evasion system wich the game shows you all about after your first encounter. And what rpg would be anygood with out a magic system and Tsugunai does have an intricate magic system and does it like Final FantasyVII manteria system with a dash of Jade cacoon thrown in.

So the bottom line is this is a good game like any game theres minor issues but nothing to hinder the game, and yes i would recommend this game and its actually quite good and i had fun playing it, and there is a but of a learning curve but well worth the time to learn.

Once again you highlight an obscure Japanese game I've never heard...and you make me want to play it. You said there are 35 different quests. Do you have to do all of them to complete the game or are some of them optional side missions? Or do you just have to do a certain number? Sounds interesting either way. I'll keep an eye out for this one.

Yes these dont include side quest but yes you have to beat the 35 game quest but the others are optional and funny thing about this game i was at gamestop looking for Valkyrie Profile and ran across this in mint condition for like $3 so i had to grab it and to my surprise it was an awesome game.
