Super Metroid had one of my favorite Sound Tracks for the SNES era. The songs were not only great, but they also fit the area's perfectly!
Amazing VG Themes: Metroid Music

So I haven't done an amazing vg themes for awhile because I've been pretty busy; I feel more of an obligation to do retro game of the week, which I hope everyone is enjoying. So I'm coming back with some awesome sci-fi vg tunes via metroid games! These are some awesome themes! I know the Metroid series is kind of lifeless at the moment, but the series has had some remarkable games and some great music to go with them.
Ending Theme from Metroid II/Composed by Ryoji Yoshitomi
This is the only real song from Metroid II as the rest of the game is just bleeps and bloops. But this song is awesome! It's so energetic and exciting. It has an adventurous feel to it, culminating in a progressive ending. Pretty amazing considering the limited sounds of the Game Boy.
Main Theme of Super Metroid/Composed by Kenji Yamamoto
This song is creepy. The opening story of Super Metroid is told while this theme plays. Its ominous at first, but then the heroic Metroid theme comes in and lends a more adventurous feel to the song without making the song any less creepy. It fits perfectly with the story as Samus relates the events of Metroid II. It has become a legendary theme in the video game music world.
Ending Staff Role from Metroid Prime/Composed by Kenji Yamamoto
After eight years of silence, Samus returns. Yamamoto returns also to reprise some themes and give new life to the Metroid series. He does a stellar job with the soundtrack of Metroid Prime, making the music sound more sci-fi than ever. The ending credits music is great. You can hear all the weird static and noise which sound like little parasytic creatures. The complete tone of the song is alien. A perfect fit for a great game.
Rundas Battle from Metroid Prime 3 Corruption/Composed by Kenji Yamamoto, Minako Hamano, and Masaru Tajima
I've always enjoyed this theme. Samus fights the bounty hunter Rundas, and this exciting theme plays while you have the intense face-off. It keeps a steady pace and once again sounds alien. The eletric guitars add more tension later on, and I especially enjoyed the high chimy sounds. The chimes hold out for awhile, then give way to that Metroid-style sound of desperation. It's a pretty awesome boss theme.
Staff Credits from Metroid Other M/Composed by Kuniaki Haishima
Love it or hate it, there's no denying that Other M had a great soundtrack. Haishima came in and gave the series a grander feel as a live orchestra composed many of the tracks. The ending theme is easily the best track as the orchestra lets loose with a beautiful score of space adventure bliss. Seriously, when I first heard this song, I thought it sounded like Star Trek! It gives that sense that, "Mystery lies beyond the stars. Go out and explore!" It's mysterious and beautiful. Thank God we can all enjoy something from Other M!
