After the only frikkin' brilliant season ender I am today confronted with the news that Matt will leave Doctor who after the 50th anniversary episode and Christmas episode this year.

I must admit that it took a while to get used to Matt after David Tennant but over the last 3 years (has it really been that long) I've grown to love his manic interpretation of The Doctor.

Ahh Matt we hardly knew ye. Mothman sad now.

I sad to. But it makes me wonder why he's calling it quits thus far. he's been my favoriate doctor of this new relauch to date. But I have to admit he has been looking a bit haggarded as if he's not getting enough rest or something. I hope he's not sick.

Yeah, I hope not too. He seemed to love the character so I'm hoping he didn't leave out of necessity.

Matt is fantastic. I think I still prefer David a little more but I'm glad the 11th regeneration went to Smith because it fit The Doctor's progression as a character so perfectly.

Yep I think he did the Doctor proud but  is John Hurt really going to be the next Doctor? I think they were just messing with us.

Well William Hartnell, Jon Pertwee and Pat Troughton were wonderful as "older doctors". Hurt could pull it off fantastically but I wonder if the big-wigs will allow it within our more youth obsessed culture. The "elderly hero" is a rarity these days. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with a wizened old doc. It would be like Gandalf or Dumbledore piloting the TARDIS. That's awesome sauce! lol.

David > Matt. Matt's okay but he stepped into a large shadow.

I thought that at the beginning but once I chose not to compare I grew to appreciate the merits of Smith's Doctor for the spirit in which it was presented. I've done that all along, having watched the show since William Hartnell first appeared on my TV in glorious black and white back in '63. Granted there are some Doctors I could have done without but Matt wasn't one of those.

I never watched the new Dr Who. I am more of the original 60's and 70's.

Since David Tennant's tenure the shows and the writing have been getting better and better. Do I love the hokey sets and monsters of the 60's and 70's any less? Hell no!

50th Anniversary this year. Wow. I'm so frikkin' old.

I love the first episodes with the Aztec like people. It is on Netflix, so I have my daughter watch it with me. My mom was over, she said you used to watch that show all the time.

Anyway, do remember the show G men/man I can not rememberwhich but it would come on after Dr Who.

Not sure what came on after Doctor Who back in England. Too long ago. I should check out Netflix some time.

Yes, yes you will. Then go to your room and think about what you've done (or not done in this case.) LOL

I am a big fan of Troughton and Matt Smith was very similar to him, so he was fairly easy to get used to after Tennant.  I am sad, and happy at the news.  I am excited at the possibilities of a new doctor.

It feels like Smith's time as the Doctor was too short but then there are a few that only lasted for a single year or in the case of Paul McGann one TV movie which I don't think I've seen.

I would very much like to see somebody in their late 40s or early 50s as the next doctor.  I think that it would be a nice contrast to the very young Smith.

I heard that a female Doctor might be in the works. Also, how are they going to get past the set number of Doctors thing?

I'm sure they'll come up with some sort of Deus Ex Machina to get around it. This is after all Sci Fi. Maybe some sort of Timey Wimey thing. :)

My Wife was finally getting used to seeing Matt Smith as well. Oh well though, such is the life of the Doctor!

Well, that sucks. I was really enjoying his run as the Doctor too.

What I like about Matt is his ability to put you through all the emotions in a single episode.  I'm definitely going to miss him.

I like the new DW, but I don't watch it every week. That said, I liked him as the Dr.  Hopefully, they'll get someone just as likable.
