Allow Me To Re-Introduce Myself

Hola folks!

I see a lot of members moving over here due to the sad and unfortunate closing of 1up. While it sucks that we have had a spike in popularity due to the closing of another site, I still am glad to see things moving around here. I can't say that I was a big 1UP user, but a lot of great writers that write for Pixlbit came from there, so it was pretty damn cool in my book.

Anyway I hope to get to know this growing community and I hope you guys enjoy what we do here. We try to be honest with our coverage, and provide things that are entertaining and worthwhile. As I said, I primarily do reviews and previews, but I'll write the occasional feature and guest on a podcast here or there. For example, I'm a guest on the latest Backloggers Anonymous for Darksiders and you can probaly find me on old episodes of NWP, Pixltalk and PStC. Other than that I'll leave you with a small primer of who I am just for the heck of it.

For those who don't know (most, if not all of you) my name is Jon Lewis, also known around the site as JD. I've been a staff writer here on Pixlbit since early 2011, and it's been pretty awesome for me. I've covered major events like E3 and NYCC for the site and though hectic, it's always fun. I've done a good amount of reviews and previews and a few random things here or there.

My favorite game of all time is Metroid Prime. That game changed my life, along with the first two generations of Pokemon Games. I am a huge fan of action adventure games, platformers, RPG's (including JRPGS) and fighting games. I like to explore fighting games and learn the cool stuff, and maybe even get into the competitive nature of them. I play mainly the Capcom fighters these days, like SSFIV: AE, SFxT (2013) and UMvC3. My roots with fighters start with Smash Bros, which I played competitively for a year or so, and Soul Calibur 2 and if you wanna go WAY back, then fighters like Power Rangers on Sega Genesis, Killer Instinct and TMNT: Tournament Fighters are my true origins.

I enjoy the occasional shooter, but unless its more campaign focused, I'm a bit burnt out on them, more specifically FPS' like COD and stuff. Overall I just enjoy good games, on all systems. Whether its Halo, Gears of War, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Zelda or Metroid, I just like quality experiences. So much so, that I aspire to design games one day and I use this as a medium to hone my writing craft.

So, hope that give people some insight to who I am, and I hope to hear from you guys, as well as read your blogs. I did blog a bit before, but kinda fell off due to the lack of responces but I'll try to get back on the blogging train. Anyway, thanks and I hope your time on Pixlbit is worth it.!

-JD

Hi Jon. I love fighting games. Even if I suck at them lol. Killer Instinct is my favorite fighting game ever. It was the only game that I ever bought a strategy guide for and I studied that thing religiously. I hope we can get a reboot someday but who knows if that is ever gonna happen. Nice to meet you!

Likewise, haha. And yeah, I would totally not mind a reboot of KI. I'd buy it based on nostalgia alone. C-c-c-c-c-combo Breaker!

thanks! Yeah she's my favorite character in STF. I don't play too much STF 4, but I love STF 2 HD Remix. That's the perfect version of STF 2 in my opinion. Metroid Prime is a great game. I've beaten it many times. My favorite Metroid is Super Metroid on SNES. You ever play that?

Yeah, I've played every game in the series sans Pinball. I was late to Super Metroid, but it stands as my second favorite after Prime. Prime holds a special place just cuz it was my first exposure to the franchise along with Fusion. Fusion kinda fell off for me, as Zero Mission and Super Metroid were much better imo, but Prime was the one that had a huge effect on me.

Killer Instinct, I freaking love that game! I'd completely forgotten about it until your blog. I'm hoping things pick up here for you guys, hopefully a dearth of 1up refugees can help!

Hello!

I'm a Fighting freak, strangly I haven't played Killer Instinct, i was more on the Street Fighter side of the spectrum Street Fighter Alpha 3 is my all time favourite Street Fighter game.

Guilty Gear is my Favourite fighting Game Franchise, i haven't bought SFxT yet, just waiting for it to go as cheap as possible.

I haven't Played all the Metroid games only completed 2 and 3 of Prime, i liked Fusion, it was often pretty tense.

Yeah, I kinda wish I was exposed to SF earlier in my life, but I've enjoyed the current iterations. SFxT is pretty worth it now, due to the recent patch. But yeah man, thanks!

hi, glad to have discovered your site.  I've never actually played a Metroid Prime game, but I've heard great things about them.

Glad you found refuge over here. If you are a fan of platformers, or action-adventure games I highly suggest the Metroid games, they are all at least good, but the bulk of the series is pretty excellent.

Haha, yeah. I was obsessed with Power Rangers as a kid, so naturally that game was the best thing ever. I just remember spamming the tornado move with the Black Ranger to win most fights.

Hey man, Glad to have found PixlBit! I'm a Zelda/Metroid fan myself, in particular A Link To The Past and Super Metroid. There is quite a challenging mod of ALTTP out there called Parallel Worlds, I'd check it out if you're a fan!

In terms of fighting games - I think my height of my love with them was Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast; my god that port was amazing.
