Well, fuck me. A few key points:

- Publishers can decide how used games will be handled, and whether or not you can even get used games at all.
- You WILL have to be connected every 24 hours, and if you're logged into a friend's console it checks every single hour.
- You'll only be able to give/sell someone a game once, and they have to be someone on your friend's list for 30 days or more.
- Loaning and renting games won't be possible at launch, but they're "exploring possibilities with their partners."

That first part worries me especially, because A) I'm sure plenty of devs will block all used games, and B) Sony has also stated they'll be leaving DRM "up to publishers", which means they may well have the same damn policy.

This next generation is looking worse all the time. What the fuck is the point of even buying a console with all these stupid restrictions? I already have to deal with them on PC, a more powerful and open platform to boot. Plus Steam is a much better, FREE service with cheaper pricing--and it's hardly the only place you can go to get PC games.

Not to mention how I've been very disappointed with the current generation, and the next generation looks to exacerbate the industry's problems. Every day, I'm seeing fewer and fewer reasons to jump in. It's like they want me to put it off for as long as possible.

*sigh*

If this is true, I am not buying an Bone.  I don't care if it gets Chrono Trigger 2, Skies of Arcadia 2 and FFVII HD.  MS won't get a dime from me.  I hope Sony sees this as a chance to be the good guy and get a competitive advantage.  But I am afraid Sony will do the same shit as MS.  I already dumped all my MS stock last week as I didn't want to be a part of this shit.  I just hope all this never makes it to launch.

Yeah, same here. I'm much more convinced now that, as far as the used games issue at least, Sony and MS may well end up being in lockstep. If so, the used market is going to be fucked badly.

I think I'm done with modern gaming. Especially if Sony adopts these same practices. There's still plenty of PS3 games out there that I haven't played and I always got my retro gaming consoles which actually will play games without all this bullshit. There's no way in hell I'd buy a Xbone.

This current gen was the last one that actually fit the classical model of a traditional console reasonably well. Even with all the patches, updates and online passes, you can still play the damn games locally without needing to be connected. That they won't even allow that for single player games is just...ugh.

You know what's really makes me mad about this? If Microsoft would just explain why its doing this. If used games were the problem, why they didn't introduce this with the 360 redesign? Why now? What's really bad about actually explaning that is going to make this is situation any worst than it is?

Indeed. Key word: Restrictions. I really hope that this console crash and burns.

Current speculation circulating forums is that there is a major issue with the new processor design because they were rushed to compete with sony and thus the cpu is being underpowered. The OS demo from the conference was pre-recorded and the final product might be a bit slower than advertised. Sure, giving eary glimpses gives MS the advatage of saying, well we are still in development, no questions are being accepted at this time, but come E3 reporters will be expected to ask questions. Ironically, after these rumors were leaked out MS cancelled all of the their interview appointments for the Post E3 showing and put out a press release about their new game policies. Once again the gaming media is failing consumers.
You all are missing the real story.

I've been following the thread on NeoGAF about the poor yields due to the ESRAM issue since yesterday. It's surprising that so many of the big gaming sites are being quiet about it when they were so willing to jump on random rumors before.

I was trying to find the post to link to the source but I couldn't find it. Yes. The neogaf thread was what I was referring to. If the XONE is powered down and it becomes the primary developers console of choice then games get ported over to PS4, we may get downgraded XONE games for PS4. I think I saw that topic come up, as well as the performance issues for the new interface with snap in windows and such.

I feel your pain,Gigantor. Believe my sincerity when I say that. Based what I know I'm opting out. Never thought I'd go 100% pc gamer but that time has come. (I'll still revisit my 360,PS2, and PSP to relive the good ol days.)

I just can't believe how far MS has it's head up it's ass on this. It's the only explanation as to how they could be so deaf and blind.
