Thoughts on my Big 3: iOS7, Battlefront, PS4

Hello Pixlbit! Here’s a quick blog about my thoughts over what I saw yesterday with iOS, Star Wars Battlefront, and the new PS3

iOS

I’m excited about some of the features. I do like how Apple is addressing how a lot of the features used in Jailbroken iDevices are being incorporated into the lastest iOS. Scrollable folders, one screen settings, and other goodies. The only voice I want to hear from Siri is either Siri herself…or the computer from Star Trek TNG.

I’m still waiting for the option of having an empty home screen. I don’t like having everything things on the home screen. I’d rather have everything in folders, but that’s me.

My favorite part of the iOS announcement, is all the Android fanboys start doing comparison videos. Fanboys relax. Both are good operating systems. People have a choice on what they like, there isn’t a need for either side to start spouting off the stats of their favorite OS.

Battlefront

This was the only game I would play online with the PS2. I loved this game so much I bought it on the original X-Box. I then also bought the PSP versions (not quite as good). This is one of those games where if you played later at night, I only ran into players who weren’t A-Holes or like to use questionable language when playing against you.

Even if I haven’t seen any actual gameplay, I’m excited for this game.

PS4

Ok a little disclaimer: I’ve been loyal to the Playstation brand. I’m not saying it’s the best system, or I act like a fanboy. Heck I owned an original X-Box, but for my gaming purposes I do stick with Playstation. After what I saw yesterday I am sold. Playstation seems to be doing everything right with the 4. Having PS+ content being able to be played on the 4

Being able to actually use the Vita for Remote Play (although it would be nice to play all my PS4 library on there instead of some games. I still haven’t remote played a game on the Vita from the PS3 because there is only a handful of games that use it. This might be the case for the 4.

I do want to see all the games use this. Everything from inventory in your missions, to your playbook in sports games, this is a pretty good feature and it opens a bunch of new options for gaming (can you say Dreamcast VMU?)

As for the other options that’s cool too, but it wasn’t really a pressing need for me. The only time I really need to download something is on Download Tuesday when the new PS+ games are released.

Let me know your thoughts on what you saw. The Good/Bad/Ugly of Day 1 of E3. You know the drill.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

i'm excited about the news about iOS controllers.  I know it wasn't official, but it looks good.

It's like Sony did everything right in this generation. Hopefully everything they promise sticks when the final product drops.

The worst I saw from sony was the requirement of PS+ for online multiplayer.  Since PS+ seems to be such a fantastic service, it seems like it shouldn't be much of a problem to me.

I liked that Microsoft showed off a lot of games, the only problem is that the ones that I want are coming to the ps4.

Yeah that was a little bit of Sony creeping into what X-Box live is. I do like PS+, and the service has been nothing but great to me.

I didn't see all of Microsoft's presentation but I did like what Playstation offered in terms of games. I found three games that'll keep me busy when I do pickup a PS4, not including the first offerings on PS+

I agree, sony has my alliance. They're keeping it solid and old school whereas I feel as if microsoft has went off the deep end.

It felt like Microsoft tried to do too much. What they were offering was interesting, but I don't think a lot of people will use all those features. Add that to the price of the console, and it's going to make the casual consumer go to Sony and Nintendo

I'm going to have the entire Sony family in my gaming rig. PS1,PS2,PS3,and then PS4! And a Vita in a drawer next to them. As well as my PSP. Microsoft really blew it this time. How do you reach the apex and then fall so far? And rather quickly as well. If they figure out gamers don't care about all the TV bs then they might recover from it.

I think their plan was to scoop up the non gamers with all their other features. Concept wise, not a bad idea, but it turns out they're going to alienate a lot of their fanbase with what they brought. Sure they're going to get the hardcore, but a lot of potential sales are going to move to the other two consoles

Yeah, I tend to prefer Android because of price (which would be a moot point if I had a Galaxy phone) and certain policies, but the OS themselves have advantages for the type of person you are. Still, those stats do factor in to my decisions, so let the fanboys hammer it out, and I'll use the info.

Battlefront I actually never heard of before, but that trailer was cool. So it's a bit like Rogue Squadron I take it? Looks like something I'd play, in any case.

And we are all so excited about PS4's business policies, or at least I was, I forgot about cool details like remote play. Just another thing to make that purchase decision easier.

Funny you mention price, when I had to upgrade last summer, I wanted whatever the new Android phone was, but it was twice the price of the iPhone 4s. Both phones did what I wanted (Calls, texting, Twitter/Instagram, driving directions) and I went with the cheaper phone (I had an Android phone before). I always tell people it always comes down to what is best for you. A little bit of homework always comes in handy.

Oh Star Wars Battlefront was one of my favorite FPS games on the PS2 because of the universe. Running around as a Storm Trooper or a Rebel was fun. I never got the hang of flying the vehicles but it was fun. I think you'll enjoy it

Yeah, that's why I mentioned if I had a Galaxy phone, price would not have been a factor since the Galaxy S3s were the same in price as iPhone 4 or 5, I forget which.

And it was more of an on-foot battle game? In that case, I'm less excited than I was, but I will certainly look forward to it regardless. I could definitely see that being very fun.

The Galaxy Phone is nice. I like it because it's big. My iPhone does the job but I'm getting tired of small phones. When it's time for me to upgrade and there is a new Galaxy I might go back to Android (if it's cheaper than the whatever version of iPhone will  be available)

Check out the older Battlefronts on the PS2/X-Box. I'm assuming the new version will still have elements from the originals.
