There were so many good games announced yesterday at both conferences. Granted,I was far more impressed at what Sony had to offer. Rather than do some huge list type blog I'm going to comment on them one at a time. Not like we don't have plenty of time before we get to play them. I have always been a fan of the Mad Max films. Even Beyond Thunderdome, though that one did get a bit weird toward the end. With all these post-apocalyptic games coming out the past few years I don't know why it took so long. It's a story that is perfect for a game, with a lone hero wandering the wasteland. All remnants of his past life are wiped away, except for one.....that car! That is precisely why Road Warrior is my favorite of the 3 movies. Lots of the action took place out on the highway. Mel Gibson played the part so well. Even though he went off the deep end a while back,he did some fine work back then. Braveheart is one of my favorite films,so I'm a bit biased. But even I can admit he's nuts now. So I doubt he will be doing any voice work on the game. But if they end up capturing the feel of that world it should not matter. I think it will end up being a boost to a genre that some feel is being used way too much these days.

What I'm listening to today..........

It's too bad Mel turned out the way he did. Or maybe deep down he always was a bit that way but was better at hiding it in the past. Regardless, a Road-Warrior game is a great friggin idea! I'm surprised we didn't have this pitched to us sooner as well.

I remember my brother suggesting it after we watched The Road Warrior. He said it would make one kick ass game. I think perhaps Mel was always that way underneath it all. His Dad was racist as hell and filled his head with a lot of crap. How the hell did he work so well with Danny Glover is what I wonder.

I never played Just Cause, but from what I understand Mad Max and Avalanche might be a perfect match

I hope so. I enjoyed both Just Cause games,so that's a real plus for me. I wonder what era of Max's life will be portrayed? Will Lord Humongous show up perhaps?

yeah I'm down with this.  I grew up with Mad Max playing on cable and I loved it.

My Mom had a real problem with the first Mad Max film. She said it was the most violent movie of all time. Just made us want to watch it more!

Ashamedly, I have never seen Road Warrior. But yeah, Mel's dad seems to have put a lot of stupid shit in his head he probably had to fight with his whole life. I honestly think he needs therapy more than anything. That's a toxic mindset/environment to grow up in. Meanwhile, he should probably be kept away from certain groups of people. Like any non-therapist person. And let's hope that person is a white Catholic so he doesn't try to kill them outright.

Yeesh. Sad to think about.

Is it any wonder why we didn't see a mad max game yet? You even get a "mad max" type outfit in the fallout games! Perhaps the consoles needed to be powerful enough to handle the aweesomeness that is Mad Max. Here's hoping they don't screw this up like how one developer did with the Aliens franchise.
