Okay, so Sony's press conference, as we all know by now, was intense. At first, they showed some new games, such as:

Killzone: Shadow Fall

Infamous: Second Son

Rain

The Last of Us

Beyond Two Souls

Gran Turismo 6

Puppeteer

Batman: Arkham Origins

The Order: 1886

Knack

DriveClub

Destiny

Diablo 3

Elder Scrolls Online

...among many others, which included quite a few indie games as well. I really enjoyed the Sony conference, as it showed a lot of things I was interested in. The self-publishing and support of small/indie developers really means a lot to me, and I think that it is very cool that this is finally happening. I'm really looking forward to what we will be able to accomplish with this.

The PlayStation 4 will have a 500GB hard drive at lauch, and that hard drive will also removable and upgradable. Most of this you already know, but... no DRM, no used game restrictions, doesn't require a constant online connection, and of course, it is priced at $399. Now, the PS4 doesn't come with any of its accessories, whereas the X1 will come with the Kinect (since it is required to be connected).

The only DRM and used game restrictions will be the choice of third party publishers.

I'm going to be getting a PS4 as well as the X1, but I am so excited for the PS4 after this conference and all the news. I'm also happy they redesigned the controller, because I HATED the DualShock 3. From what I have seen, the DualShock 4 is infintely better, and I hope this proves to be true. I'm also excited about self-publishing, like I mentioned earlier.

I know most people have aligned themselves over to Sony now, but I'm still hoping the X1 will come back from this defeat.

I think I'll be returning to PS after seeing what MS had to say, suggesting that we should stick to 360 if we didn't like the online every 24hrs thing really got my goat. Im sure MS will come back, they are master strategists as far as money making is concerned but thats assuming of course they havn't so far off the beaten track that they can't find their way back!

I'm sure they will as well, and althought I understand a lot of people were upset over the 360 comment, but they will be making games for quite some time...They said they expect to make games until 2016/17, so i don't really see that as a huge problem. Granted, there won't be some of the newer things on the 360, but like the internet masses have said, if you won't have internet by 2017, that's a bit of your fault. If you are employed in the military and can't use an online model, the 360 will be nice thing to fall back on.

I even understand the checking in because of the updates and the fact that a lot of the games run in real time. I think it's a little odd that they decided to go this route, but I understand it.

I'm not buying an Xbox one on account I feel like doing so encourages imperialism & tyranny over consumers and independent retailers. Even if I was more privelaged and had enough money to buy every single console I'd still leave out microsoft in the cold at this point.

I don't mean to come off as so harsh but we're talking about a console that reputedely spies on us, requires a check in every 24 hours, limits games to a set number of profiles, and has cds that are glorified install disks. Also, what happens when the Xbox one is no longer supported online? Well, it becomes a functionless plastic coaster!

Granted, microsoft probably will change these things gradually just so they can keep in the competition but if I were you I wouldn't support them until they straightened up. (This coming from a guy who owns a 360 right now)

Sorry, I have problems with sugar coating my opinions sometimes. Don't take it personal. lol. Smile

You don't have to apologize for your opinions! I'm not going to take any of this as a personal attack, so don't worry haha.

Like I said, I really enjoy a lot of things on the PS4. There's a lot of really cool things that they are bringing in, and I fully support them.

In Don Mattrick's statement, he said that they had conducted a lot of consumer research and they were pleased with their choices. He also said some things will change, everything really isn't completely set in stone. They have until November, so we will just have to see how that plays out. I have no doubt that Microsoft will redeem themselves.

Also, the used game restrictions are done by third-party devs and publishers-even the loaning of games. So, while Microsoft has some kind of leeway over this, it's really third-party companies that have a right to decide how their games are handled. It's mainly up to them.

The checking in every 24 hours is very strange, I'll agree with you on that. But, most of the games run on real time, and I think why they decided to have it constantly connected is because they want to just keep the game updated automatically so consumers don't have to wait for updates.

More will be revealed as time goes on, I'm sure.

Feel free to have more opinions! I don't fault you for them.

I agree there's hope in the fact microsoft can change its' policies & technology at any given time. (Though it's scary too on account that clause can be used against us) Perhaps now they're rock bottom they can only go "up" from there? Surely by now microsoft realizes it made quite a few mistakes.

i hope the xbox changes its stripes too, because I believe competition between multiple systems is good for us gamers.  that being said, a lot of microsoft's policies really make me ill.  I'll probably still buy one eventually, but the checking in every 24 hours really makes me upset.
