yeah next gen is really looking exciting. i like the better graphics, but its more open world, asymmetrical multiplayer, and innovative stuff that excites me. I realy felt MGS4 was too linear, so maybe V will be great. IT certainly looks good. I think Destiny will be pretty open too, for a shooter. I liked how there was "public event" in the demo, kind of like these moments that occur when you're playing that are kind of random and draw in other players. Pretty cool stuff. I also like in Watch Dogs when a second player used a tablet to help/hinder the main player. Stuff is crazy.
Next-Gen is Not Looking Half Bad!

I stress "half bad" because at least half of next-gen (Xbox One) is not looking so good. I secretly have been really wary of what next-gen means for gaming. Microsoft confirmed many fears with persistent DRM and an unneccessary "always-online" console. What's the point of spending more money on gaming if I can't even really own the games I buy?
This last console generation alone has shown bigger and better graphics have not exactly benefited gaming. Even with all that horsepower, games have only gotten more linear. Sure, I could point to the narrow corridors of FFXIII but I can’t think of a better example than Bioshock Infinite. Here’s one of the most ambitious-looking games of this generation, but all that came at the cost of a more linear game. While the Sky-Line’s do add an extra dimension to the gameplay, it only hammered home just how “on-rails” the game is.
Next-gen games from E3 are not exactly giving me that impression though. Metal Gear Solid V looks incredibly open. Destiny certainly doesn’t look like the next corridor shooter. Did I see someone fighting on a wall in FFXV?! I can only dream of the things I could do with the new Mirror’s Edge.
It also doesn’t hurt that the PS4 is launching at a mere $400. I was expecting at least $600 for launch next-gen gaming. I was already preparing to sit on the sidelines for a few years like I have with previous consoles. That likely won’t be the case this time.
I still think there will be some major set-backs. Lesser publishers who don’t have hundred of millions to throw around will get burned big time by the costs of this next generation. That is, if they are not like the THQs who already bit the dust this generation. There’s also little I can say to be optimistic about the Xbox One half of the next generation. Still, there seems to be the ambitious games I’ve been dreaming to play on the horizon and not just the next generation of Call of Duty: On-Rails Warfighter.
