Chaos Wars a PS2 Classic that i really need to get

Chaos Wars by Idea Factory is the next ps2 game i have my radar on, so let me tell you why. First off Chaos Wars mixes characters from the Shadow Heart series which anyone who has played will attest to has some very unique characters although I dont own either in the shadow hearts saga i do know all to well about the cast of characters, and as the back cover of the game cleary states its aimed at a specific audience, and much of this games appeal lies in knowing the characters from Shadow Hearts.

So the game takes place from Shadow Hearts A New World in Endia an archipelago thats sits suspended in the air with a vast ocean pouring over the edge, and apparently this land of eternal sunlight shares interdimensional walls with more then a few parallel worlds, and as such its a fairly regular occurrence to have people cross over. The only catch is its a oneway trip.

The battles are grid turned based strategy and if you dont like TBS then you might as well quit reading right now, but if you like old school TBS like i do then you may be as interested in this gane as i am so its grid based you have a party of six or more and like any strategy grid based game you build a party and can gang up on enemys combo style, with special abilities etc the story from what i know is nothing to write home about but is interesting to say the least, this is my cup of tea i love SRPGs and this one looks good, and ironically thats the score IGN gave it was good its not as in depth as say Disgea and the kind but very interesting to say the least.

If you can find this game for cheap, I say go for it.  But, be aware that this game has some serious faults.  First, the skill system offers you no control over what you learn, keep, or discard (new skills overwrite old ones, regardless if you liked them or not).  Second, battles take a very long time to complete.  Both your troops and the enemy forces have innate health regeneration that kicks in at the end of each turn.  If you don't gang up on individual units, you could very well trade blows with an enemy that will not fall.

That said, I bought this game when it launched back in 2008 for $40.  I thought it was going to be rare or worth something, considering that it was a jrpg and a GameStop exclusive.  But, that didn't work out.  The game's price eventually crashed and it started showing up at Amazon and other online retailers.  So, I wouldn't be surprised if you find this game at GameStop, used, for a few dollars.

I suppose if you just want to collect this game and never play it, picking it up would be fine.  But, to be completely honest, the money that would be spent on this game could be put to far better use.  Perhaps towards La Pucelle Tactics or the Mana Khemia games?

Hmmm... that's unfortunate that you're missing Mana Khemia 2.  I'm guessing that one still eludes you at GameStop?

How are you doing for the Atelier Iris games or the .hack//G.U. trilogy?

It's a shame the U.S. localization is rumored to be really bad. Would have been nice to see Yuri & Alice within a "decent continuation" of the original Shadow-Hearts storyline.

However, I'm not as big into S-rpgs so there's a possibility you would still get more out of it than I would!

I wonder why they didn't brand it as a Shadow Hearts game. Still, sounds like it's worth it if found for cheap.
