Well strategy RPGs are a rare thing in todays world of gaming and is still my favorite gener and the only system to date that has the best ones is the PS2, so i thought i would do a top 5 SRPGs list so here goes. My number one is......

So Soul Nomad is my first because it has complex strategy controls a very good story that implements the gameplay and is easy to learn, hard to master.

My number 2 is Disgaea Hour of Darkness is one of the best SRPGs to ever grace the PS2 although difficult to master the depth of this game is incredible a very humorous story and a very large game coming in at over a 120 hours, but most definently one of my favs.

La Pucelle Tactics was another SRPG that litterally kept me on the Tv one night for 18 hours a feat no other game has ever done, this game had a great story and is a great example of what turned based combat should be, although a little short for a SRPG, it was a great game.

Although this is a spin off of the Disgaea series its just as in depth tells a good story that interwinds in to the Disgaea universe very well, it has a more complex conrol scheme but plays alot like Disgaea and has cameos from Edna and the prinnies.

And last but not least Phantom Brave which is another fantastic SRPG that controls alot like Makai Kingdom the story is really good as well, very in depth and a awesome game.

The thing with strategy games is pateince, grinding, and strategy these are tactical games at its finest, there turn based and the last of a dying breed of games, and are all worth your time to play. These kind of games can take months to complete, this is my favorite genere and although these are on the ps2 other then dated graphics there still some of the finest gaming you will ever play.

these all look good.  it's too bad we don't really get console releases for these types of games anymore except for Disgaea.

I was always a fan of Phantom Brave, the only one on this list I played. The last SRPG I played and really enjoyed was Rainbow moon on the PS3.

I didn'tget very far with Phantom Brave but its a fun game and you can tell the roots are from Disgaea.

NISA did a good job on SRPGs on PS2. My personal favorite is Sakura Wars: So Long My Love (made by the same people at Sega who made Valkyria Chronicles, and published by NISA in the US).

Soul Nomad was good. Damn game totally kicked my ass though. Gig is a smooth playa either way. I loved his humorous over the top "bad-guy dialogue". lol.

Soul Nomad is a great game i really like the way you have to setup rooms for different unit combos, and the battles are awesome and i also really like the battle maps pretty cool.

I actually think it's a plus that most of these games look SNES-ish lol. The thing that keeps me from playing more games like this is their length. I just have a hard time sticking with a game for several months and if I start something else, it's so hard to go back Undecided Still, I wouldn't mind owning these in hopes of playing them one day lol. I could stick them on the shelf next to my other ridiculously long unplayed games like Fallout 3, Xenoblade Chronicles, the Persona series...

Exactly! But mainly I'm happy if someone plays it. I've picked up games that I've yet to touch but my brother or wife played. Hey, at least someone enjoyed them Smile
