My Dear METAL HEADS! Today is about Black Metal! What can I say about this Black Metal band ( Summoning ) from Austria? Well, very interesting, The chanting in the opening song is a bit creepy like it should be for Black Metal but, after that it just seems off. To me this seems more like Pagan Metal, which is not bad.

SUMMONING: OLD MORNINGS DAWN TRACK LIST.

1. EVERNIGHT

2. FLAMMIFER

3. OLD MORNINGS DAWN

I have a fondness for Pagan inspired Metal. Thanks for the mystic riffs,Lar. I especially liked Old Morning's Dawn. It's not exactly "heavy" to start with but I love how it builds up slowly as if listening to it is akin to walking up the stairway to Heaven one step at a time. (For me bards screaming and electric guitars blaring "is" heaven. I'm weird like that. lol.)

It is supposed to be Black Metal but it sounds more Pagan to me. Thanks for listening.

Yup, sounds more like Pagan than Black Metal to me as well. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Then again, Pagan Metal & Black Metal do in fact intertwine and interconnect a lot. Many people probably consider the sub genres the same but for me they're still separate.

I really liked that second song. Honestly I've never heard this kind of metal before. I'm gonna check these dudes out some more. It's good to be back to METAL MONDAYS!!! although I really wasn't gone that long lol.

I actually like this quite a bit. Leave out the lead vocals, just leaving the chants and instrumental, and I think you've got yourself some pretty good epic video game music for fantasy/way-back-when settings. Amd when the game starts getting darker, maybe put the lead vocals back in.I think it could work.

It is not a bad CD, I just need to listen to it a few more times. It is not the Black metal I am use to.

I'm a big fan of all things Pagan, seeing as how my wife is one. I like the sound of this. The intro to that first song kinda reminded me of Blackmore's Night in a way. Although they are by no means metal. More artsy fartsy Renaissance sort of music. The Pagan influence is very cool as I have not heard this type of metal very often. Really dig the artwork, too.

I was hoping you would chime in. I thought it was just me but a few agree it is not your normal Black Metal.
