From what I saw, the patch was pulled.. Thankfully!

Good thing I never did the update. One good thing about my little NCIS marathon that I've been on lately, haven't used the PS3 for anything other than a glorified DVD player for a while.

God fucking dammit Sony! You had it so good at E3 last week and now this shit!? Now we have to deal with all the shit eating grins from Xbots all week. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!

Hopefully you didn't have your Auto-Update on. If not then no biggy, the patch has been pulled for the time being until the problem is resolved!

Unfortunately, no word on what will happen to those affected by the patch. It's an easy fix though if you don't mind formatting your HDD and losing everything

I read about this when I got up this morning and immediately went to check my PS3, since it auto-updates about 30 minutes before I wake up.  Luckily, everything seemed to be working okay.

I do have PSN+ now, so even if I had to reformat at least I wouldn't lose my PS3 saves like I did back when my original PS3 crapped out on me.  But this reminds me that I need to start backing up my PS1/PS2 saves on a memory stick or something.  A little while back I got a new hard drive and didn't realize that the auto-update of the saves to the cloud didn't include the games I got off PSN that are PS1/PS2 games.  I ended up losing all of those game saves.

PS+ does have it's advantages with back-ups and auto-saves!

From what I've been reading, it seems to be effecting the slightly older consoles as well the consoles that have had the HDD's swapped (Just a trend I've noticed, nothing confirmed).

Thanks for the heads up Chris! Man I feel sorry for those that updated already. I hope there is a way to fix that crap.

So far the only way to fix it is to format the HDD..

The patch was pulled though so hopefully a fix is on the way asap!

Good thing my wrist is sore. I didn't play any video games on mine yesterday. Only downloaded Saints Row The Third on PS+, after the update was pulled.

NEVER EVER DOWNLOAD AN UPDATE UNTIL YOU GET THE ALL-CLEAR! I learned this in 2007. Disable Auto Update as well. I want to know about these updates first.

Thanks for the heads up on this. What other product on earth can be wrecked by an update? I sure as hell can't think of one. Good thing they pulled it off. That could have led to a class action lawsuit.

It's definitely a bummer, that's for sure. I just worry about the PS4 updating itself (It does that, right?) and having a self-uploading patch go awry. That would be awful!

My PS3 seems to be just fine, I read in another article its only affecting PS3's with a harddrive 500gb and up. Mines 250 so I think Im safe. I think the PS4 will have the option to auto update, it will prolly be a perk still for PS+. Other then that I dont think it will be required to be on.

I read that 90% of the effected PS3's had after-market HDD's in them, only 10% of the effected PS3's were stock hard-drives.

I didn't know about the update, so I downloaded it. Found out about the system bricking later on but seems I'm in the clear, yay! Sucks for the affected though.

It seems as if most of the Bricked consoles were the consoles that had swapped HDD's.

So glad that I had a concert to go to last night and didn't play until this was sorted out! Hoping that my psplus settings didn't autodownload it.

and that's why I don't have auto update turned on. Or PS+ for that matter. Thanks for the heads up though. Sony 2 for 2 now when it comes to crippling updates yes?
