Don Mattrick, the King of Shysters, is Canadian. He's from Vancouver, B.C. That smile reminds me of another individual from the same province and while she might not be a shyster, she is responsible for the disease that the American Medical Association should recognize: stupidity.
Microsoft's decision to reverse all DRM policies is a victory for the hardcore video gamer who wanted no part of it. The outcry the last week was heard loud and clear and the people in Redmond simply had no choice but to retract any and all DRM from their machine.
I don't even know why they thought it was a good idea in the first place. Did they not think of the logistics? U.S. soldiers and naval servicepeople would not be able to play the console on a ship. Not everyone has Internet in the U.S. People don't want the inconvenience of check-ins. It goes on and on.
Regardless, there are still some questions about the One. I still think it's an Entertainment box-top first, video game console second. They still will try and push Kinect 2.0 on everybody. They seem more intent on pushing expensive services than anything else; stuff people can find for free right now on their PC. The console seems to be made for the casual video gamer first. Yeah, I know. Everything is made for casuals first because they don't know any better. They are the easy sells.
If the console gets more games like Project Spark, maybe I will buy one after a price drop. However, I still have very little trust in Microsoft. They do not care about the customer. All they care about is money, profit and more profit and as long as lemmings keep giving them money, they will continue on the path they are going. If people would actually do some homework for once, they would see Microsoft for what they are.
At least UNSCleric is happy. All snuggled up in the passenger seat of his Mom's car:
