Things are starting to get rough in The Last Of Us. I'm avoiding spoilers at all costs right now,so there will be none here. I will just say this about this game. It is probably the most cinematic game I've ever played. What does that mean to me? Means it's not just a game,it's an experience. At it's core it's a great story of how two very different people bond under extreme circumstances. Two people who come to rely on one another for their very survival. It's brutal and raw,but it's got a lot of heart.

Sometimes you wonder if either one would survive without the other's help. At first Joel treats Ellie like a kid. Won't trust her with a pistol, much less a rifle. But he gets past that very quickly when he realizes how valuable an ally she is becoming. Plus, she's a damn good shot! And gets better as the game progresses. She's a very smart girl who becomes very good at killing. In the world they inhabit that is actually a trait necessary to stay alive. Even if you're just 14 years old. She's had to grow up fast.

Is Ellie gonna have to cut you, fool? Because she will! She's every bit as good as Lara Croft at sticking shivs between some ribs. And in putting arrows into eye sockets from 50 yards out, too. This is a game I don't want to end too soon. So I've been limiting myself to about an hour per night on it. Not one to be missed by anyone. It truly deserves all the praise being written. In other gaming news from my weekend there is this.............

The first NES game I've picked up for my retro console is Skate Or Die. It is nothing like the arcade version, not even close. But for 3 bucks I'm not complaining. It's okay for what it is. The two things I heard about this weekend I liked? Steam now has redeemable cards in several denominations. Like that a lot,I prefer to use them whenever I can. Also heard about the return of Flight Of The Conchords, the comedy duo from New Zealand. They are doing a tour this summer with none other than Dave Chapelle! I used to love both of their shows on Comedy Central,so this was rather cool news. So in honor of that,a couple of songs from FOTC........

Flight of the Concords is brilliant.  I really hope that Sony's Gaikai service is awesome, because I do not really want to buy another ps3 just to play The Last of Us.

Right there with you on that. I have high hopes for it. Could be very good!

I definitely wanna play The Last of Us, though I think I'll wait for a price drop or two. I still gotta play Uncharted 3, actually lol. And Business Time...bahahaha

Definitely worth it if you can wait. I hope more games like this one come along for next gen consoles in 2014.

That guy from FOTC sounds like a nerdy Mick Jagger in "Business Time." Awesome. And I think when I have some cash, I'm getting a PS3. I keep saying that, but damn, Last of Us is getting nothing but praise. Even Infinite had people complain about a few things, I have not seen one damn gripe here.

I came full circle on my PS3. It used to be so neglected. Now I think I play it more than anything else. I love the 500 gig hard drive, too.

I can't wait to play the Last of Us.

I used to love Skate or Die back in the day for the NES.  I don't think it was ever an arcade game though, although I could be wrong.  Are you thinking of 720 degrees?  That was a skating arcade game that said "skate or die" whenever you ran out of time, and then bees would start chasing after you.

That was the one. Thought I had it mixed up in my brain. I just remembered that voice saying "Skate Or Die!" And then running out of time. It is hard to look at this game after playing the Tony Hawk series. But for it's day it was sort of different.

It really is. We just finished it a couple of hours ago. Just like with Bioshock Infinite I had to sit back and absorb what happened. Really stirs up your emotions.

I really don't like zombies, but I may rent it from Redbox, because it could be the exception to my "No zombie games" rule.

The story is what sets it apart from the crowd. You do fight plenty of regular humans as well as infected. If you liked Tomb Raider you might like this one. The combat is similar and so is the crafting part of it.

The Last of Us is my game of the year hands down. Such an incredible game.

I would definitely vote for it as Game Of The Year. As the credits rolled I was thinking how I would miss it. Maybe I will play it again next month.

The tempation to buy a PS3 is starting to get unbearable, I ve held strong and resisted buying both consoles for years and right at the end of their life cycle Sony throw some juicy tid bits into the shark pool.... damn you Sony..... damn you.

I don't know what I'd do without my PS3 now. I use it for all sorts of non-gaming stuff like Netflix quite a bit. One of the greatest consoles ever created I feel.

So we first got Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite that can hold her own and now this girl from "The last of us". could developers finally figured out we don't care to protect someone that has less brains than a lemming and would rather have backup that could actually be backup?

Hope the trend continues with future game releases of other games.
