It's been a while since I've done one of these (My bad).

Actually, it's been a while since I really posted anything/read everyone's wonderful blogs. Sorry about that, I've just been struggling with some personal things in my life.

But it's ok, the hardships are what propel us forward and make us better people, right? So that leads to the question of the week:

What game do you look to as a pick-me-up?

Mario games, whether they're core titles, or spinoffs like Mario Baseball, give me a positive attitude towards humanity.  I could use a good mario game now though, it's been a while since I really got into one and could use it in my soul.  Can't wait for Super MArio 3D World or whatever it's called for the Wii U.

I was wondering what was going on. I hope it works out man. I usually play Double Dragon when I'm feeling down. For the longest time I struggled with my depression and played a TON of Diablo. Which helped a lot. That's funny though because Diablo is such a depressing game lol.

Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. The others are good, too, but I so love the Sheepinator!

Super Metroid, or the GBA ones.  I hate a frustrating week last week, and ended it with Super Metroid.  The week automatically became 10 times better.

I relied on the unlocked birdman mode in N64 Pilot Wings to get me through some tough times in college. More recently, any game I can get in some pointless exploration does the trick, like Far Cry 3 or Skyrim.

Secret of Mana does it for me. The music and the bright crisp graphics, plus a does of nostalgia seem to just put me in a better place in my head.

Aggressive Inline... yeah, I know, super obscure. With the Xbox version you can play songs off your HDD, so I enjoy jamming out to some tunes from my library and just going nuts doing tricks and racking up huge scores almost subconsciously. It's oddly zen.

I can get into the zone like that with Punch-Out!! and completely clear my head. I forgot about that one... Of course, the peacefulness only lasts until Bald Bull 2.

TMNT 4 is my favorite game ever, so I can easily pick it up and play it to turn around any depression I may be feeling. The game is so fun and satisfying that I quickly forget all my problems. Cowabunga!

Ideally it'd be something co-op, like a beat-em-up maybe, or Smash Bros (any flavor). Metroid Prime or MP Pinball would do it too.

I'd say just any NES game I played as a kid, like Mario, Double Dribble, 10 Yard Fight, etc. Mostly play these on nintendo8.com. Something about the charm and simplicity of older games.

I play old school games like Dig Dug,Xevious, and Doom. Seems to do the trick every time. Glad you're back and I hope things are getting back on track for you this week. Summer is a tough time for problems to crop up. You want to relax and have fun.

Aww I'm sorry to hear that times have been tough. Hang in there! :D

When I feel crumbs, I play Tekken if I need to kick some @$$. I play Katamari if I need to be happy! :)

Any Mario game because it's so colorful and cheery, you can't possibly be sad afterwards. But I know this may sound weird but Fallout 3 or New Vegas. How? Well I think to myself, it can't possibly be worser than this, plus helping people in those games just puts me in a good mood. It gives me hope that despite those people living in a wasteland, they still have hope.

Lunar and Lunar 2. Those are such charming RPGs.

I don't know if their's one game I'd go to. Probably one of my favorite RPGs from the PS1 that I haven't played in a while are good pick-me-up games. Though I do like to play Gears of War when I'm angry!

Black on the Xbox. Whenever I feel down or angry, it feels good to set the game's soundtrack to my personal "gundown" soundtrack and gun down russian terrorists.

what? stop looking at me like that!
