Hey, I just watched that video on youtube! Very funny
I find it easiest to be funny when other people say dumb things first lol so my hat is off to you for trying stand up and apparently doing well at it.

So I made a video about my experience at Screwattack Convention earlier .. well, yesterday, but the problem was it was 23 minutes long which would probably bore you all to death, and the computer I was wanting to edit it on was acting really slow, probably due to the shit I put on it.
I'll try to get it up, if anyone still cares, but it's been a while now, and I wouldn't say I went to the most interesting of things. I think I might just do a highlights type thing, I was way too long-winded trying to cram everything I did in there I think.
And I just got back from an open mic. I made people laugh, but there were like five of them, cause I was one of the last to go, so not sure how much was me, how much was situation. I think a lot of it was me though.
The lady who was running it told me if I came next week, I'd have a better spot if I came earlier. I was trying to do that this time, but "your destination is on the right" doesn't account for walking directions. Stupid phone.
Anyway, that's what's happening with me. Now I'm gonna get my set ready for next week: my ground rule is try to make it funny without going blue; I'm gonna try.
I feel the most appropriate way to close this is with a comedian who was at the con, and my favorite song of his.
I don't think I would have the courage to do standup, so I really respect that you do. that's one of the hardest things in the world to do, standing in front of an audience all alone. I did it when I was in the band, but there were others with me and I hid in the back.
keep at it though. if it's what you love, you ought to do it!
One of my early friends on 1up used to do stand up. He was pretty good. I hope Paul kept up with it. I don't think I would be any good at stand up, but I'm keeping notes for my future book about all the absurdities that park rangers deal with on a daily basis. I have amused friends with excerpts, so maybe it'll sell. I dunno, I won't be able to publish until after I've safely retired, though.
I do have a Youtube account, and was going to upload the Screwattack impressions and Soundcloud audio file of my performance there, but this blog explains about the Screwattack thing, and unfortunately I didn't get my phone out to record my set, cause they called my name quicker than I thought and I didn't want to alienate the five people listening by fucking around with my phone.
I might though, start using that account to start uploading daily vlogs as blogs.
And yeah, it's my favorite w/lyrics song of his I know of. Glad you liked it.
I would gladly watch your footage. I watched tons of lame people drone on about E3 stuff online. You have talent so I bet your reel is good. Hey,anyone who has the guts to do standup has my respect. I can make my family laugh, but they're used to my twisted sense of humor. A room full of strangers is a whole different matter. Best of luck with it.
Thanks for the compliment. And yeah, stand up is a big game of crowd feeling, which is less (still there though) of a factor than with friends. Still, comedy at the dinner table can often be more cathartic than stand up ... maybe I should have people hire me to be a funny guy at dinner tables. I love to eat, too, it could be a win-win if they also pay me food cost or offset it ... hmmm...
No you don't. If only you had the foresight of the fact I wrote the blog "Bombing" right after this. I freeze and the material is bad to start with. Depending on how the next one goes, you might get to hear a nice Soundcloud file the next time where the audience actually likes me, but video isn't happening on account of I tend to go by my lonesome and all I have is a camera phone.
