Digging For Gold at the Value Village Again.

There is a thrift store called Value Village that is a 2 minute drive from my work. There's also a Tim Horton's close to it so when I go out for coffee I pop in to see what's new in the game section.

The N64 games I mentioned last week were from there. I also found South Park N64 but neglected to mention it. It worked perfectly first time.

Yesterday I found a couple of PS games in pretty decent shape, Gundam Battle Assault 2 and Independence Day. The Gundam game caught my eye because the name is misspelled Gundum on the spine. I thought that was funny. Independence Day I don't know much about but they were 3 bucks each so I can't really go wrong.

Pretty cool you can pop in there so often. There is a Goodwill near my work I used to go to on occasion, but all they ever had was a Miracle piano without a cartridge or cables and Soul Caliber that was very wet inside the case... I gave up going but should try again.

Wet inside the case? *shudder* . They had a copy of GTA III the other day. It looked like someone had danced on it wearing golf shoes and it had lumps of god knows what all over it. I made sure I washed my hands before touching anything or eating/

Yes, the manual was soaked. Always have hand sanitizer waiting for me in the car when I go to Goodwill. Lumpy globs are also bad.

I've played that South Park game.  It's pretty funny, and not bad.  I think it was stolen out of our car when we went to see the MAtrix.  It was a rental (the car and the game)

I used to go to one of the local thrift stores on a weekly basis a while back.  I picked up a bunch of awesome things.  A sega saturn, two sega genesis, 30+ genesis games, half a dozen n64 games...  I miss that place.

I want a Saturn in the worst way.

I told my daughter she has to bring back my Genesis next time she comes to visit. She took it because hers is flaky and I didn't have power or video cables but for a 10 dollar investment I can remedy that. I have a bunch of Genesis games I need to test.

I love how the tv cable works with both the SNES and Genesis, as well as the NES and SNES.  Those were the days.

There's a thrift store right across the street from where I live. The last time I went there they had a bunch of GBA games (some really good stuff too) for cheap but I was broke. I don't really mess with disc based games from those places. They are always scratched beyond all hell.

Finding great stuff when you're broke sucks. It's the worst feeling.

The two Playstation games were in surprisingly good shape. They both had manuals too.

I used to have independence day on ps1! Completely forgot about that game. It's not great but it hit a nostalgic spot nonetheless.

Townz, your Kermit Avatar is the best. Kermit always makes me smile. I'll check out both games when I have time to throw them into the PS3.

I'm going back out to the flea market in the morning. It's this sprawling mass of booths inside and tents outside. I found all sorts of game related goodies out there. The best part is the amount of folks selling NES and SNES games. As well as controllers and systems in good condition. Thrift stores are great for game shopping, too. Sounds like you found a really good one there.

I need to find a flea market like that. Sounds like my kinda place,

Hmmm, there's a thrift store near me that I see all the time but never visit, maybe I should. Maybe I could find something cool.

It can be hit and miss just like yard sales. Nothing for ages and then bang you hit the motherlode/

I remember we once rented either a Playstation or a Saturn on vacation once and I played Independence Day on it.
I think I liked it, but I was a lot younger and these systems were brand new. Don't remember too much about it though, really.

Well I've never played it so I'll get back to you when I check it out.

Love the thrift shop mother lodes! I got two Dreamcasts for the price of one because one ($20) of them was missing the RF cable, and there was a game in each system, which I found when I got them home. I also found a working Game Gear with a case and four games ($10), and an N64 with all the cables and two controllers ($10). I don't have nearly that kind of luck with games at the thrift stores, for games, I stick to Bull Moose Music and The Monster Box. There's a little independant place two towns north that looks intriguing, too, that I will have to check out someday soon.

It's so much fun isn't it Tami? I haven't had any luck with consoles at my stores. A couple of scratched up Gamecubes are all I've found so far and they want 20 bucks each for those.

NIce find! those gundam games are hard to get ahold of these days. I got that game for my bro long ago. Not sure if he has it though.

But was yours spelled wrong on the spine or is that indeed a rarity?

NSonic79

I honestly don't know. I didn't bother to look at the spine when i bought it for him. I'll have to ask him if he recalls the misspelling.
