July looks boring but damn there's mad games coming out in August. I don't know what to do!
AFK: I AM THE LAW

AND YOU DON'T FRAK AROUND NO MO
Here we go again, how do I explain my absence this time around. You’d think I’d be as active as ever on social media given the recent events following E3. But in all honesty I found myself getting distracted away from my gaming hobby this go around. And not just because of life, but from other subjects that I normally don’t talk about let alone dwell on. If anything when it comes to games I’ve found myself playing more XBLA and retro titles than blogging given the subjects swirling in my mind. Here’s a general breakdown.
The LAW of Writer’s block.
This one I’m not sure how to explain. After E3 (and it’s aftermath, which is still being felt) I had SO much to say on all that came to pass. The best I was able to do was write a short anemic blog right after Sony’s E3 presentation. But after that I had nothing. I toiled to write SOMETHING in the past days off and one. I even did two blog re-writes on my thoughts, not just because of the changing landscape of the next generation of gaming but because I couldn’t properly formulate my personal stances on anything when it came to gaming. I even got the wrong Online Pass company wrong when it came to “The Last of Us” Online Pass. Even now I’m not sure if I should finish my blog write up and just abandon it like I did with my sister blog write up on Cary’s “Top 5 Star Trek Characters”. So far it looks like that I may have kicked this writer’s block, if only because of the various issues that have taken up my time.
The LAW of the land
I’ve found myself spending a lot of time reading up and keeping informed on this recent session of the US Supreme Court. For the most part I have to say I’m VERY disappointed with this Court’s rulings on everything they judged upon. Their decisions do not give me much hope for the future in the coming decades. And I had such high hopes that perhaps this would be the court that could set the record straight on the very issues they tackled. Instead we got judicial activism and issue dodging. It just makes me glad that I live in a state that is able to tell the difference between social and moral issues.
The LAW of nature.
Summer has come full swing in my area and once again I’m feeling the effects. But unlike last year, when I was employed and semi out of the heat, I had to do my online job searching in the morning so I didn’t bake the house with “The Beast” PC running. But this year not only am I working full time but I work in a warehouse, a warehouse without any air conditioning. I’m lucky I have the energy to drive home and take a shower let alone do any other activities like blogging and gaming. I didn’t realize how zapped I’d be after a full day of warehouse duty. I hope to adapt before the summer is out though. But because of the heat I can see myself playing less on Game Rig One, Version 2.0 this summer and instead focus on Game Rig 2 &3. (Do I sense another Retro Summer coming along?)
The LAW of family.
My “Little One’s” family is here visiting so that gives me a chance to catch up on some home activities. It’s great they get the chance to spend time with her over the summer but that also means we get to do more activities outside the home. Trips to the city and out of town excursions have become more of the norm. Which is understandable given that no one wants to camp out in a hot home or spend too much time in “My Dungeon”, when summer is out there just ready to be enjoyed. And speaking of enjoying summer.
The LAW of vacation.
Unlike last year I’m actually going to get paid vacation this year. So during the first month of July I might be more AFK than the norm. I’m not sure what myself or “Mystical Mist” will do during this time, but I’m determined to enjoy whatever outing we have to the fullest. The start of 2013 felt like a busy time for my family so now sounds like the best time to sit back, relax and do something different from the normal. Though I won’t be bringing my tablet with me on vacation (I hope) I might bring along my netbook just in case we need to access the internet for some reason. Whether a blog will come out of it remains to be seen. Right now I have more important things to consider like where to go to spend my vacation. It might be the east coast though at the moment I’m not a big fan of that area at the moment. Especially after this happened…
The LAW of Connecticitia.
A couple of weeks ago I happen to get a letter in the mail that looked like yet another credit card offer. But when I opened it up I learned it was actually a collection agency!!!! A collection agency that apparently is tasked in collecting overdue Connecticut taxes on a car from FIVE YEARS AGO!!! Connecticia (my personal pet name for the accused state of Connecticut) seems to think that I owe them money after 5 YEARS on a car THAT I DON’T EVEN OWN ANYMORE. I nearly hit the roof when I read this letter. Mystical Mist and I made sure that we paid everything we owed when we washed our hands of the New England state that just won’t let me go. We even mailed back the plates on the car that is said to have taxes overdue on it when we settled in Nebraska. It took most of the night just to dig out what paperwork we had to contest this admission of money grubbing. I can understand how Connecticita is hurting for money ever since 2008 (I bugged out of there in March of 09) but to come after me again when WE SENT ALL PAPERWORK AND TAXES OWED BEFORE WE LEFT is just insulting.
I almost felt bad that I wrote a curse word filled letter of contention when we mailed them the copies of our paperwork showing all taxes paid in full. It’s bad enough the state has banned all assault weapons but now you want my hard earned money to help pay for your social programs?!?! I’d rather pay a lawyer, that I’m sure will cost more than the total taxes and fees owed, than give Connecticitia one red cent of my money! This event alone is making it hard for me to want to visit this area ever again, but I’m damn sure I don’t want to ever live there again. It almost wants me to try to “re-create” a Vblog series I tried to make (and was made HORRIBLY) just to rant at Connecticitia and New England in general on how backwards that place can be with their rules, regulations and residence who seem to have no common sense! You can’t even shoot REAL fireworks in Connecticitia. And speaking of fireworks.
The LAW of the 4th.
I’m still debating if I should try to embrace my inner pyro and go all out on the 4th this year. But it seems that the harder I try to do such, the hard it is to actually get it done. I usually buy myself military grade high explosive fireworks (almost a step down from depleted uranium shells) but I’m unable to find the best mix of fireworks that I’m used to. And by best mix I mean, easiest fireworks I can “daisy chain” in a light off. I can only find batteries of 12 Saturn Missiles, high explosive shells that can’t be fired off in rapid successions of 3 and my usual array of Class III fireworks (that when fired off individually can be a yawn) have been replaced by Class II that will hardly make a sonic boom if set off at the same time as the rest. It’s as if someone locally learned of my last “amateur firework display” and purposely throttled me back in what there is to be offered without a firework license. Is it wrong to want to shoot off fireworks in the intensity that would make Saddam Hussein’s AA fire over the city of Bagdad look like your basic roman candle?
Is it wrong to want to shoot off my military grade style artillery firework shells in a highly populated residential area that happens to be near a nursing home, a resident state trooper, the local police/fire department along with an active airport that may or may not involve air national guard aircraft? (Make a note of that NSA!)
Well that was fun writing. I think I may have this writer’s block beat! Now it’s time to read up on blogs and blog comments. Let’s see what this summer has in store for us shall we?
