[Animal Crossing Save Data Corrupted?!]

My Animal Crossing save data has now corrupted on two different systems at least 5 times. Halp! ;_;

So, here's my tale of woe. Maybe you can shed some light on what might be causing this?

I have a 3DS and a new-ish 3DSXL. I downloaded AC:NL pretty much asap after the North American release on both systems. (I play one, my girlfriend Beth plays one. Heh. ^^:;) I've lost two saved games and had to restart from scratch. I'd get an error of "corrupted" save data that had to be deleted and you're stuck making a new town. Beth has had this happen a few times also. This is her 3rd restart.

I've splunked around google and found that this issue has happened to other people, but I am yet to find a clear cause or solution to this problem.

Basically I guess what I'm saying is this- I love my lil' town. I'll be devastated if my data corrupts again. I'm so frustrated at this point that I want to complain to Nintendo but have no idea how to go about it. I'm also wondering if it's happening to anyone else.

Anywho, thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing from the community on this one... I could really use your wonderful brains. x)

I checked that one out before... the specs the OP sighted are really similar to what happened to me- but the thread just says, "Uh, start a new game." No bueno! xD I really want to get to the bottom of this. ;_;

Thank you for taking the time to find it for me though! *^_^*

Yeah, just start a new game is not a solution. That's like Microsoft supports answer of just restart your PC only lamer X 10.

I remember losing 10 or so hours in Fallout 3 because of a corrupted save.  I guess that it was still trying to autosave when I shut off my console.

Hmm... poking around the web leads me to believe that the Japanese release had an issue where if your system went into sleep mode during gameplay it'd potentially corrupt the save. I don't ever remember either of us doing this... O.o I don't know if it's related or not, especially since this is the NA release.

I haven't run into it but then I'm playing the retail version so it's a totally different thing

Bluh!  I hope my AC save file doesn't get corrupted.

That happened to me with the Wii version of AC, about ten months after I started playing.  I stopped after that.

Did you happen to download it, or did you have a physical copy? O.o

I try to get physical copies when I can.  So I have the cartridge of the new AC game.  I don't think the Wii version was downloadable.

Don't tell me this! Surprised

It's seriously terrible. It's so weird that I've heard of a ton of people having this same issue- and everyone says, "Just restart." BUH! I don't wanna! That's like, weeks of my life I won't get back! x(

In a totally more helpful comment it could be the SD Card. I've had all the games on my Wii SD Card corrupted and had to redownload them. That has happened to me twice. I've got some cheap ass 16 GB card in there. I should really know better.

I would backup your save after every single game session from now on, and contact Nintendo about the issue. It's more than likely that Nintendo won't have a solution, but it at least tells them that there is a problem with the digital version which could be patched I guess.

The thing that stinks is that Nintendo doesn't let you back up your AC:NL data. ;_;

I contacted them via e-mail and they told me to call them @ support. Will do tomorrow! :D

Is it a digital download or the game on a card?

I'd want to say if you could re-download the game that might work with the data transfers. but I'm not that well versed on the 3DS and what it can do hardware wise. Sorry.

Tried... sadly it didn't fix the problem. I'm just being super careful- no sleep mode, no closing the system and the like. So far so good! *fingers crossed* ;)
