Pretty much. MS wasn't offering nearly enough to make up for what I stood to lose. No amount of spin would've changed that.
Microsoft aftermath: Why I'm not ashamed I was mad.

Sometimes there's a good reason to rage......
So, after many a discussion it occurred to me Microsoft is already trying to twist things. Aka, those who rebelled so passionately against the X box 1’s policies are somehow ludites who denied gamers at large the true and inevitable “bright future of gaming”. Apparently the “Xbox live family plan” was going to be all that and a bag of chips. Granted, there wasn’t much info on it before but now MS can pretty much spin it however they wish.
Let me clear this up. None of us have a problem with online sharing, online trading, and online distribution. If MS wants to do so it can still implement those futures and include them with everything else already available. Heck, they proved to us that their system built from the ground up to support their business model could easily be changed with a friggin update.
No people, these are the reasons I and many others like me were friggin pissed off.
To Microsoft
1. Do not tell me I have to have my console log online in every 24 hours
2. Do not spy on me for advertising and consumer data
3. Do not limit my play time to a 1 hour check if I bring a game to a friend’s house.
4. Do not charge ridiculous fees to indie developers wanting to patch their own games.
5. Do not region lock my choices in games.
6. Do not try to monopolize a select group of retailers I can go through while those outside your elite circle suffer from job lay offs & bankruptcy in the shadows. I should be able to buy games from who I want, even Mom & Pop stores.
7. Do not tell servicemen they should get a 360 as a solution to their problems.
Microsoft’s original policies didn’t do wrong just to gamers. They did wrong to independent retailers, our military, and independent game developers too.
Look, I don’t mind if many of you want to get an Xbox 1 as your first console. I’m 100% cool with that! Furthermore, I’m happy MS is sticking around as a competitor because otherwise we would have stagnation and laziness in the industry. (I'm also aware of Sony's SNAFUs this generation but that's a topic for another day.)
My problem is with the people telling me that the gamers who were so upset at E3 and before E3 are now somehow “wrong” or “backwards” for expressing their anger and discontent. So we were “wrong” for fighting for consumer rights? We were “wrong” for fighting for constitutional rights? We were “wrong” for supporting independent businesses, independent game developers, and military personnel?
Now that the Xbox 1 is changed you want to say it somehow would have been better as it was before? Are you people serious?! That must be some good shit you’re smoking so please, cut me in on it too! I really want to see your insane Randian and Orwellian utopia come to life before my very own eyes!
The problem is I “was” calming down. But then certain peeps had to go and say “Don’t be angry, it’s all good now! I cannot respect people who are angry!” Well if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. As much as I cannot stand “nerd-rage” when it’s petty & immature, there is a time and place for it. As such I’m not going to feel “ashamed” for speaking out against Microsoft during this E3. If anything, I’m damned proud of myself!
Loki is more "polite" "well spoken" and "even tempered" when compared to The Hulk but that doesn't make him less of a meglomaniac. If you have problems with any "dirty words" on my part just remember,a silver tongue doesn't always make someone "good".
PS: For the record, I want to apologize to Julian. I listened to the recent podcast after reading some nasty and stupid youtube & forum comments about E3 which had the audacity to imply the Xbox 1 and MS were right as rain as they were and thus noone should have challenged them in the first place. Let that be a lesson, readers! Never go into a podcast with negative vibes!
