Amazon Box
So I get home from work today to find the familiar friendly smile of a box from Amazon.com.  Hmmm, I wonder it could be?.  As I carefully used my house key to cut the tape from the box, that Zelda "item collection" music played in the background as it revealed...

Zelda Book

The New York Times best seller The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia!  I had bee seeing bloggers snatch up this book as soon as it first became available and it sold out very quickly.  At first, I didn't see what the craze was all about, but then I learned that the book was created as basically a historical record of the Zelda stories from all the games.  I also
noticed that the timeline and story elements of Zelda II: The Adventures of Link was hotly debated by some fans that read through the book already, but I can't wait to read it for myself and see if I can make sense of it.  I'm also reeeeaallly looking forward to pouring over every page of artwork that's in the book.  I'm a sucker for original Nintendo art.

Mario Galaxy game

Also ordered Super Mario Galaxy from a seller on Amazon.  I kinds slept on the two Mario Galaxy games when they were released on the Wii originally.  I mean, I liked what I read in the reviews and videos I saw of the game, but I just didn't feel motivated to spend the money to get it.  I think I was all Mario'd out at the time and wanted to focus on other games.  I got this one for around $14, so I figured it was a good buy.  Now if only Super Mario Galaxy 2 would come down in price.  It's currently priced at around $43 and upward at Amazon, and I assume most other online stores as well. I never quite understand why Nintendo's first-party games tend to hold their full price even years after it's been on shelves.  I mean, Mario and crew are great and all, but $43 for a game that was released 3 years ago (as of May 2013) for a system that's no longer the latest of Nintendo's offerings seems a bit pricey in my opinion.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Mario Galaxy and Mario Galaxy 2 are great games, though I'm partial to the first.  You're going to have a great time with that.

I never saw the big deal about that book, but I'm beginning to feel the lure of it now. Might just have to order it.

Honestly, I was trying to think of reasons not to buy the book when I saw all these other folks showing off the book.  But once I learned that it was a best-seller, I had to have it.

Great pickups Jamie. I drooled over that Zelda book a couple of times while reading blogs about it. I loved Mario Galaxy. Still haven't played the second one.

Yeah, I'm really excited for the book.  It's going to be like reading all those NES instruction manuals I used to have.  I loooooved reading them.

The Hyrule Historia is pretty damn fantastic.  Pre-ordered a copy months ago.  It was truly surprising when it arrived, because I had forgotten all about it.  I too made the "new key item" discovered noise in my head when I saw it.

Good...glad I wasn't the only one that heard the music too!

Yeah, I decided to get Hyrule Historia now because there have been far too many times I passed up on an affordable item at the time because I wasn't 100% ga-ga over it, only to kick myself later when that same item is triple the price 5 years later and hard to find on tope of that.  I was all like "not this time, baby."

Me too.  It felt especially good because I haven't treated myself to any online gaming purachases for well over two years now.  I figured now would be a good time to make a purchase.

Awesome. As someone who was with the Zelda series from its infancy, I gotta say I LOVE that Hyrule Historia! I got mine as a V-Day gift.

I recently got the 400-page hardbound Ni no Kuni strategy guide. It was a free gift from Namco to make up for them screwing up by selling our Wizard's Edition pre-orders to those scalpers in Canada.

Sweet!  That was nice of Namco to compensate for the misshap.

Nice!  Is there anything better than coming home to see the smiley face box on your door.  Makes me feel like a kid again.  Man, time to order something.

I'm not sure I buy that Zelda HAS a consistent storyline at all, I'm pretty sure they just made that up to sell the book and just assumed it was all alternate universes before now, but that having been said, that book sounds amazing and I want it. haha

Yeah, Miyamoto has for years suggested that the different Zelda may or may not follow a specific timeline or could just be parallel universe, like you said.

Still need to get a copy of that book. I wanted to get it for my fiance for Valentines day but they were out of stock and I was all darnit! SO I figured Im going to buy it for his birthday or something instead.

I also slipped on getting the Mario games for the Wii so I figured to buy the first Galexy and I enjoy it a lot. I still have to beat it so I can get the second one.

Books rule. I'm pretty much going to give up on American culture if online reading completely replaces them.  Who the hell would rather not have a nice, hardbound edition like that?  Commies and hippies, that's who..

I was debating whether or not to buy the Hyrule Historia book a while ago at a drug store that happed to have it for 20% off. But PAX East trumped it. I'm not so big into Zelda any more, though, so it was a much easier decision. I think Phantom Hourglass did me in.

It definitely is a nice looking book.  Also, it's been over a week now since you got it.  Have you taken a good look at it yet?  I just got it recently myself (it's been in my house for a while, but I had to wait for it because it was a gift), but I haven't had the opportunity to thumb through it.

Also, the cost of Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been stopping me from buying it, too.  If the game didn't sell to Nintendo's standards, which means it didn't sell enough to get on the Player's Choice line, then why hasn't any retailer started clearing the game out?  They could at least meet us halfway like they did with Brawl and Donkey Kong and knock it down to $30.
