Here's another video, this time it's a rant! It's a bit more swear filled than the last one, but oh well. Tell me what you think!

Looks to me like it would be a lot better for consoles then pc lol!! and i would say it would be better for your health to get rid of it cause it sounds like you were ready to throw the pc out the window, good vid though just a bad game for you lol!!! i must admit you had me rolling with your ranting on the game.

Yep, those QTE's really piss me off. As far as I know it's the same icons on console, so it's not just a pc problem. And there are so many cutscenes in the first hour!

Glad you like it though. I'll have another video out in 161 minutes if youtube is to be believed. Which style do you prefer me doing more? Ranting or informed let's plays?

Well it wouldnt be you without the ranting but if your doing a regular YouTube channel the latter may be the best way to go but i like both so either way its good.

I'm going to try a bunch of different things and see what works best for me, so expect to see a few more videos.

Modern versions seems to let me down, just finished playing through Hitman Absolution and whilst it's very pretty the gameplay is more like Gears of Hitman, the older Hitman games have a level of gameplay depth that Absolution just can't hold a candle too. Its a real shame too because gunplay always seems to improve in newer games but ultimately they sacrifice the concept of it 'being a game' and turn it into a movie experience. And like you say if I want to watch a movie I'll do just that. I'm not a fan of QTE's at all so the Telltale walking dead games are never going to appeal to me but at least they don't pretend to be anything else.

You haven't played the walking dead? I hate QTE's too, but they are actually well implemented in that game, especially as it's more of a quick decision than anything else, and there are very few failure states. Seriously, try that game!

With Hitman, Blood Money is still the best. It's so damn ellaborate!

If a movie type intro and cut scenes are implemented correctly there ok in games but like the newer FF games i font like cause i feel like im watching a movie and playing the game of a movie which is just stupid.

They're fine as long as they aren't over used. In some games they most certainly are *cough cough* MGS4.

For some reason i thought of you with a British accent, even though i knew you were an Aussie.

In the newest video I'm just about to post on here I sound British at some points oddly enough. Could be where you're from. I add and Aussie twang to everyones voice when I think of them lol.

I have noticed this. Aka, games being made more like Hollywood blockbuster movies. I imagine doing so takes A LOT of money & resources, so much in fact shipping 3 million copies isn't enough to break even. (Er, at least according to square/enix.)

I might not 100% agree with you but I can understand the frustration, especially considering Tombraider used to be more of an action platformer and a puzzle game but those aspects were lessened to make it more of a 3rd person shooter. (Which certainly has broader appeal but I cannot stand it when developers change a game just to make "everyone" happy. The COD/Madden approach doesn't work for everything.)

It's not that that has me frustrated. I just don't like over cinematic games that rely more on quick time events and cut scenes than actual game play. And there are so many QTE's iin the first hour! Also, the next game needs Croft Manor, because that's always been my favourite part of those games.

But the Holly-wood-facation "does" seem to be your main problem. Aka, too many cut-scenes and quick time events. I should have maybe explained that better.

Personally? I still want to play it. I understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea but this TombRaider looks awesome to me. To each their own!

PS: I have mixed feelings on Croft manor. To me it embodies "super wealthy spoiled english girl" and that part of Lara is less interesting than the part of her who is a survivor and an adventurer. Though I guess it's cool you can find relics in the mansion which are nods to each game in the series!

Yeah, I just thought it was and still is one of the best tutorials in a game ever. Idk. The game does get a lot better later, as I said it feels like a mix of Resident Evil 5 (horror elements) and Uncharted. You might like it, the gameplay isn't that bad, and is in fact quite good, but there are just so many things that stop it being an enjoyable experience for me that I don't want to finish it.

I got it for 20 dollars on PSN but I already hate the QTEs. The game doesn't look bad though. I may try again

It gets better, so if you can endure, it's got some good moments, but the QTE's are always there and it frustrates me.

I've yet to play this game nor do I feel like buying even for $20. I'd rather play old skool Lara 123 from gog. Cry

Maybe foot stands for F? It seems like they should have told you what the controls where somewhere. This is really the first time I have seen footage of Tomb Raider. It doesn't really look anything like the Tomb Raider that I know and more like Uncharted. It's good to finally hear your voice Blake.

Yeah, it is a lot like Uncharted, just slightly more shit. And no, foot doesn't mean F because exclamation mark means F lol.
