EVO Week 2nd Strike Day 3: WHAT THE HECK NINTENDO!?

Hi, people. I have some unfortunate news today. Apparently the EVO staff was told today that they didn't have the rights to broadcast Super Smash Bros. Melee from Nintendo of America. The new stream schedule had been posted and you can see it here. Smash will still be at EVO this year...just not seen by anyone not there.

Rarely, to I ever lose my cool online but... what's wrong with you Nintendo?! This has been known for months now. Heck, in the Kotaku interview with Sakurai used for my blog yesterday, he willingly acknowledged the competitive scene. So why literally days before EVO do they say they can't broadcast it?! I hope so much that its a mistake or they change their minds come Friday. Seriously, the Smash community raised $90K for charity to be there, they deserve to have their efforts shown. Please everyone, if you have Twitter, tweet to Nintendo of America to change their minds POLITELY. Throwing out curse words are not going to get back Smash into the EVO. I'm sorry this is so short today but this move is really wrong and has thrown me out of writing today. Tomorrow will be back to normal.

You're on top of your news.  I was just reading about this on Kotaku. Nintendo can be pretty lame sometimes.  If anything, this helps build their Smash Bros brand, to be broadcast about. Instead, they're ruining the good will there and souring people even further on competitive Smash Bros.  Sure, they're not getting any money out of it, but... why can't they just chill?

Kotaku says its there new rules on video of their IP but I thought that only applied to You Tube. The sad part of this is even if this does get fixed, it will be a pain to re-adjust the tournament again to fix them back in and Nintendo will still look like an ass.

LOL they just announced that it was back, after just 4 hours. I was going to post a blog on this but they changed their minds so fast. XD

Aw, hell, maybe I'll do one anyway. :p

I know. I just posted a blog about because... well I was mad when I wrote this and ate up what I oringially was going to do. Damn it Nintendo, even when you fix things, you still find a way to screw people (read:me) up. lol

A month or so ago Nintendo was revoking all monetary rights to any Let's Plays on YouTube, and Nintendo eventually changed their minds on the matter. I'm hoping that this turns out the same way (In that they change their minds), but we shall see!
