that's a lot of games!!! Have you played Valkyria Chronicles yet? It's great. The Maw is fun too, and I loved Sine Mora.

The Fall 2012 to early Summer 2013 recap!
It’s been awhile since I’ve done a MyBuys blog so I figured I’d get one out of the way before the MyBuys start to pile up. I held back in doing this blog for a while given how my purchase habits have changed as of late. I’ve begun to focus more on digital offerings that go on sale on XBLA/PSN, along with fewer and fewer new game buys. Plus when I do buy new games they are usually done in small purchase groups. It didn’t seem like that much when I originally held off in doing a MyBuys blog but after cataloging all I bought since back in the Fall of 2012 it would seem I have a lot of catching up to do. So here’s what I’ve acquired thus far.
In the fall the only physical games media I bought was obvious Halo 4 since I made such a ruckus about if I should vote or buy this game when it came out. For the record (again) I did vote. But later on I also bought Crazy Tax for the DC, Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective for Sega CD and Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 2 for the PS2. If you’ll recall during one of my last MyBuys I bought a disc based version of Bejeweled 3. Though I did enjoy the game I decided to trade it in so I could buy the digital copy later on in the fall (which I did buy on XBLA). Despite me always wanting a physical copy of a game any chance I got, I felt that Bejeweled 3 was more of a downloadable game like its predecessor. Thus I used the trade in credits to buy the uber cheap copies of the three mentioned games above.
Later on in the late Fall I ended up buying Wolfenstein and Singularity for PS3 and Monster Hunter 3 Tri for the Wii at a store that was going out of business. It was the same store I went to buy my new TV stand for Game Rig One, Ver. 2.0. I’ve always wanted Wolfenstein and Singularity but I could never find a copy of the game with a decent price. I lucked upon this store shutting down that had both of those games for sale at $5 each. I got Monster Hunter 3 Tri because I’ve been told it’s like Phantasy Star Online, a game I enjoyed back in the day. Plus this came with the bonus Wii Classic Controller Pro. The whole bundle cost me only $20 so I couldn’t pass that up.
I also purchased some digital games for XBLA in the fall that consisted of The Maw, R-Type Dimensions, the aforementioned Bejeweled 3, Plants vs Zombies, the Indie game Decay Part 2, The Simpsons Arcade Game, Doom II and the Specialization Priority Alpha update for Halo 4. The Maw And R-Type Dimensions was some Playfire Reward I was able to cash in on for some reason. Plants vs Zombies was on sale at the time when I bought Bejeweled 3 so I figured I’d give that a go. Plus my “Little One” really enjoyed playing it. I bought Part 1 of Decay awhile back and thought the game was interesting enough to give Part 2 a try. I have yet to play it though given how I’m not in the mood yet for a spooky game. The Simpsons Arcade Game and Doom II also were on sale later on and I couldn’t pass those up. The Specialization Priority Alpha update was just a special perk I got for buying Halo 4 on a day on release. I couldn’t use it until my SPARTAN IV reached level 50 but it was a nice offering just the same.
For an Xmas present I was given some points cards for XBLA and PSN so I used them to the fullest. On XBLA I bought Happy Wars, Dungeon Fighter LIVE: Fall of Hendon Myre, Crazy Taxi (again), Jet Set Radio and The Walking Dead Episode 1. Happy Wars and The Walking Dead Episode 1 were freebies so I took advantage of them. Dungeon Fighter: LIVE was a game that was on sale so I figured I’d give it a go. I kind of recall the PC version of this game so I was curious to see how it played on XBLA. I only bought Crazy Taxi again because it was on sale during the winter along with Jet Set Radio. In fact it seemed Sega was having a Xmas sale because on PS3 I ended up buying the Sega Heritage Collection Bundle which consisted of Sonic Adventure 2 with all the Extras, Jet Set Radio and NiGHTS. I only bought it because of NiGHTS and Sonic Adventure 2. I wanted the NiGHTS version on my PS3 and I have plans to have all the Sonic games on my PS3 eventually. But at the price they were offering I practically got Jet Set Radio for free! Call it overkill but now I have THREE COPIES OF Jet Set Radio: One on XBLA, one on PSN and one on my DC. Can’t have too much I guess. I had a little money left over so I bought the cheap UNO game for PS3 as well.
Later on in the Spring I ended up buying some more games, mostly on XBLA again though later on I did buy some physical games media at a later date. The XBLA titles I bought were Space Invaders Extreme + the Expansion Pack, Space Invaders: IG, Puzzle Quest and Halo 4’s Spartan Ops Season 1: Episodes 6-10. I believe the XBLA games were the last game sales offerings from the now discontinued Sales and Specials+ app. I know that app was a rip off but at least it did offer some good deals on select titles every week. Spartan Ops was a free DL so I grabbed those up if only to see what happened to the UNSC Infinity at the end of the Season. I’m looking forward to Season 2 of Spartan Ops, that is if another one ever gets made.
But the major buys I did during the spring actually happened after my birthday. I did get some birthday money to spend as I wished but I ended up using that money for hardware upgrades that I’ll speak of in GameRig Update blog. But later on I got the urge to get some Wii RPG’s. I think you know which ones I’m referring to…
When I passed up on buying a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles at my local gamestop during the spring, I knew I would end up regretting it later on. So instead I bought The Last Story the moment I found a copy. I really enjoyed that title; it actually feels more like a Final Fantasy game really. I ended up buying Xenoblade Chronicles on Amazon for it was the only place I could find it at a decent price (and by decent I mean not over $100!) and as a bonus they let me buy SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 for $5 with free shipping! I ended up buying Pandora’s Tower at a local Gamestop when I found a copy on their shelves. As of this writing I am no long able to find The Last Story or Pandora’s Tower in any of my local game stores. As tempting as it would be to try to sell these titles for a pretty penny, I dare not let these Wii JRPG games out of my sight!
I got Valkyria Chronicles and Big Brain Academy Wii Degree later on in the month. MysticalMist enjoyed Big Brain Acadamy on her DS and figured the Wii version would be just as fun. I always wanted Valkyria Chronicles and the only reason why I go it was because I ended up watching the anime on Crackle. It was the push I needed to finally get around to buying it. Mass Effect is the earliest acquisition due in part to Xbox Live having a special sale on the game for only $5 digitally. I almost went for it but my brother offered to give me his copy of the game. He said it was “gay” and didn’t like it. An odd statement to say since last I recalled your character really can’t go “all gay” until the last game. It turns out he didn’t much care for the re-equipping your squad every time you changed them.
Though it seems like I went all out to buy these physical titles in the spring, I actually bought quite a bit of digital title offerings on XBLA this go around. It’s a long list so here’s the long and short of it. I bought the Indie title Vorpal since it was dirt cheap as an indie title. I finally game in and bought Guardian Heroes when it was on sale, only to find out later on it would be on sale much cheaper. I downloaded all the free titles offered by Doritos with their Crash Course 1 and 2, along with Harms Way. I’m surprised they are actually fun to play, fun enough to make me consider buying the DLC offered with them. I even broke down and bought the super cheap Atari title Asteroids & Deluxe offered. I even downloaded the free Forge Island program for Halo 4 along with Wolverine Claws for my Avatar. All I had to do to get those was watch the Wolverine trailer on xbox live. And lastly I got Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, a game that I’ve been waiting for ever since I heard its announcement at PAX. At 1200 MS points, the price was a bit steep but I couldn’t resist since I played Towers of Doom back in the day.
I kind of went spend crazy this month given all the sales that were being offered on XBLA and the free game downloads on PSN. On XBLA I pretty much got every single Sonic game that was offered which consisted of Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Though I own pretty much every Sonic game offered, they are spread out on various consoles. So it’ll be nice to have most of the “good” Sonic titles on one console digitally. Then finally I’d finish up my spending spree with other XBLA sales with Tempest, Battlezone, Crysis, Perfect Dark, Sine Mora, Spartacus Legends, Heavy Weapon and the Dexter 2013 Theme, Gamer Pic Pack, Stalk Outfit. Tempest and Battlezone were really cheap and I couldn’t pass them up despite them being rather dull games. I never realized that Crysis never got a physical game disc release on the Xbox 360 or the PS3 so when I saw it was for sale for only 400 MS Points I decided to give it a try. I have to say I’m impressed though I usually run and gun than try to stay cloaked and go for quick, quiet kills. Perfect Dark, Sine Mora and Heavy Weapon where also on sale at the time so I added them to my library if only to play them later on in the year. Spartacus and the Dexter items were free downloads so I took advantage of those, though I haven’t played the first yet and am only using the Stalk Outfit.
Rounding out MyBuys on the PS3 for this month are the free offerings of TEKKEN Revolution, The Walking Dead Episode 1, EVE: Dust 514 and Back to the Future: Episode 1. All of them were offered as free downloads. EVE and TEKKEN being free to play while I assume the Telltale titles are an attempt to get people to buy the other episodes after trying out the first one. So far I’ve yet to play them but plan to eventually. EVE looks a bit complicated and Tekken is surprisingly fun. I even got two trophies on there without even trying.
As you can see I didn’t realize how out of hand my purchases got over the past few months. Perhaps I should write smaller blogs on MyBuy purchases instead of waiting to build them up. What do you think fellow gamers? Either way I do plan on doing more MyBuy blogs in the coming months, that is IF my GameRig Updates come along as planned. Next blog update: GameRigs! You might be in for a bit of a surprise on this one, unless you keep track of my twitter feed that is.
