While the Shakespeare and modern Tokyo themes are interesting influences for FF series, I like the fact that the connection to the "Fabulous New Crystal" or "Fabula Crystallis" mythology isn't completely thrown away here. I like that this game is still somewhat connected to the 13 games through the goddess Etro and the parallels between Lightnings "Call of Duty" in 13 being similar to Caius in 13-2 and Noctis in 15. 
 

Ok, I'm sorry, but "Niffleheim?" The game still looks really good, but I'm hoping the voiceover mispronounced it, cause ... I am having a hard time taking that seriously. It honestly sounds like he's saying nippleheim sometimes, like it's some kind of alternate name for titty twister.

And when it does come through as "Niffleheim," I think it's some Monty Python village with dwarves parodying the Wizard of Oz.

Look, again, it looks amazing, this is honestly one of the games that excites me most about PS4, but ... Niffleheim, really? I'm new to this series, are the names of landmasses always this cutesy and non-threatening sounding?

I need to read Hamlet again, I only read it once in high school, and forgot too much of Shakespeare in general, outside of maybe A Midsummer Night's Dream (don't quiz me on it, though); that story (Hamlet) has been used in so many things apparently, Lion King comes to mind, and I never really notice the similarities despite having read it, cause I don't really remember it.

I can't defend the narratives in these new games. They are getting crazier and crazier. Looks like  a fun hack n slash though. Final Fantasy based on reality is pretty interesting. 

I like Hamlet, saying that i just hope this will be a stand alone game because if not i'll be super pissed  because so far the 13 games are only worth 2, 1 if you really cut the fat.

Ths actually seems interesting and not as convoluted as 13 either seeing as it has a story inspired by existing work, I'm slightly on the fence with FF going Action RPG but I liked The Last Sory and Pandora's Tower gameplay so i'll keep an open mind.

The game resembles Kingdom Hearts more than any FF game really, in terms of game play mechanics. The connection to 13 is very limited. I think it's just the goddess Etro really that is the connection and that's about it. The 13 series sort of distanced itself away from crystals and were more about mythology and gods really, and that seems to be the case here. Very loose connections. It seems more likely that A Realm Reborn MMO is closer to classic FF than console games now, aside from remakes of course.

This game might not be the FF game everyone is hopeing for but for me it looks to be promising. Im especially happy with the combat mechanics being changed. I hated FF13's combat style. Im gonna keep an eye on it more before I decide to preorder but I have a feeling it will be a release day buy for me.

We might be waiting a long time.
