Hey there folks. I'm changing things up today, again. Originally I was going to write about Killer Instict but there was a huge news overload that came out of EVO, that was too good to pass up. Then again, EVO is like the E3 for fighters, so there's been a bunch of news that's been flooding out from Las Vegas. So today we're taking a look at all that and few other interesting bits that have come out within the last week or so.
A New Street Fighter Update in 2014- In a surprise to absolutely no one, Capcom's EVO panel announced the new changes to Street Fighter 4. A few of the changes were revealed including nerfs to Fei-long's rekkaken, health increase for Chun-li, nerfs on Cammy's stun via hard attacks, and buffs on both of Vega/Barlog/Claw's ultras. More importantly, five new* characters were also announced. By new I mean, four characters from Street Fighter X Tekken (Hugo, Poison, Rolento, and Elena) plus one actual new one (possibly Alex if rumors are true) revealed at a later date. All of them have been retooled and refitted for SF 4 and feature new moves and ultras. Along with the new characters are also 6 new stages. This will all cost $15 and be DLC for the PS3, 360, and PC versions of Arcade Edition or Super Street Fighter 4. Alternatively a disk based version will also be released for $40 and feature all of the additional DLC costumes for all characters for free. This version will also include a pre-order bonus of new costumes designed by famed artist company UDON and an art book by UDON. Capcom also announced the Capcom Cup, a fighting game tournament series featuring Super Street Fighter AE 2012 and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.
Killer Instinct- Glacius Reveal
Double Helix, producers of the newest Killer Instinct, revealed Glacius yesterday via Game Trailers. Featuring a new look, Glacuis is now also a zoning character now yet keeps his heavy combo potential.
Tekken Revolution: July 16th Update
While technically not announced at EVO, a major update to the Free-to-play Tekken Revolution for next week was recently announced. Two new characters, Hwoarang and Dragonov, join the cast. A light practice mode will be added. Level and rank caps will be increased and new premium connect, extra costumes, will be available to purchase.
Other interesting fighting news:
Skull Girls PC's release date was announced, August 22nd. Pre-orders on Steam are available now. Also the first crowd funded character, Sqiggly, will be release on all platforms around the same time as the PC version's release (She will be free for a limited time).
Dead or Alive 5 Ulitmate is heading back to arcades thanks to Sega.
Capcom Vs. SNK 2, the digital PS2 classic version, will hit PSN on Tuesday.
A patch for Darkstalkers Resurrection is in the works.
Anything that piece of news that stands out to you? Let me know in the comments. I got to get back to the KOF stream. See you for the final day tomorrow, day 8....damn I did it again.
Really happy to heard Steam's release date for Skull Girls, although i'm not sure if i'll get it on day one. Regardless of that, i'll get the game.
Yeah, just read in a forum the news of Olimar in Smash 4. Pretty nice, since I discovered recently that Olimar is quite a good fighter in Brawl.
