What I Am Playing...And Watching!

Hello Pixlbit! I thought I’d have a quick check-in on what games I have been playing.
Because of the PSN’s ongoing summer sale, I’ve been buying more than I would normally would because everything is digital, and I’m more of a physical copy guy, but the prices are really good on the stuff I want so I can’t complain.
Fight Night: I’ve played through the Main Story Mode where you lead a boxer through your typical boxing story. It would make an interesting Made for TV movie, I do like having checkpoints in the last fight, because that guy was tough. I also started the creat a fighter, to lead him to the top mode (I have no idea what the name is). I might restart it because I want to start at the lowest weight class and just move up when the option is presented to me. I think I bought this game for $5.
Alice: Another game I’ve been kind of interested in, and after a half hour, it’s nothing like I thought it would be. I thought the beginning was really slow, the art style was interesting, and the actual subject was an interesting take. I also bought some random add-on, for a couple of bucks but I have yet to try it. I think this game was $7, $9 with the random download.
SW Force Unleashed II: I haven’t tried this yet. I’m holding off on playing it until I actually get around to playing the original on the console (I beat the PSP version, and I like it).
I’m probably going to buy another PSN card because tomorrow there should be more games I find interesting/cheap enough to pickup. It’d be nice if PSN threw some love at the Vita.
So last Friday I went on a little trip around the usual spots to check out what things made the clearance bins.
The top four games were found at K-Mart. Now this K-Mart hasn’t changed much since the mid-80s when it opened. It still smells the same, and the only difference is that the little snack bar is gone. Their sales are randoms (I miss the Blue Light savings and the cart with the actual blue light)
Top Spin 4: I need to get used to the way of hitting again because the button pushes are metered, and if you hold on too long, your shot goes wide. This is different from the EA Tennis game I played last, so I have to get used to this again…or change it in settings.
I played two Exhibition matches and this feature cost me a set. I jump into playing this probably at night before bed. I think this game was $10.
TDU 2: The developers need to figure out what the vision for this game is. Is it a sim? Is it arcade? It tries to be both, and doesn’t do either very well. The car feels like the entire racing surface is ice, with controls that are way too sensitive. I had trouble with the final license mission, until I realized that if you drive like you normally would in real life, you pass with ease. The odd thing is that you get rewarded for driving like it’s an arcade, and when in actual races, driving like a mad man gets you nothing but wins. I do like the open world and seeing other actual drivers roaming around. I beta tested the original and had a lot of fun. The one thing I didn’t care for is one overzealous player who wanted to race me. I said no, and he proceeded to follow me and try to race me still. I wish this game was like GTA where you can pull people out of their cars, and take them. Anther $10 game.
Yakuza 3 and Tiger I haven’t opened yet, but I will probably do so later on this week.
Heavenly Sword: I found it at GameStop, and to my surprise it was complete, and the former owner took care of it. It looked a hell of a lot better than the copy I almost bought a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t played it yet either, but I’ll give it a run later on.
While at the GameStop I almost bought this
Yeah I know it’s terrible, but I’m still in my Game of Thrones mode, and I figured I would play it for a little while until the show starts back up.
TV Stuff
The Newsroom is back. This is one of my favorite shows (HBO is killing it with original content) Love this show, and I know actual newsrooms aren’t as crazy but it’s fun to watch. The one thing I’m blah on is the little newsroom love story. It’s a shameless ripoff of Jim & Pam on the Office. If it wasn’t there, it wouldn’t be a big loss.
The Challenge: Rivals II is back. Bill Simmons calls it America’s Fifth Professional Sport, and its fun to watch. I’m rooting for CT/Wes because CT is nuts, and for the Women’s teams, Cooke and her mystery partner (it’s the worst kept secret who her partner is, but I won’t spoil it).
Well that’s all for now, more later!
