A Painted Triforce

Last night I found myself inspired by the PixlBit community who asked if I would draw my version of the Triforce a little while back. If you're new to the site, what I am doing is a series of blogs where I paint something (with mediocre skill) that one community member has asked me to paint. This time Michael 117 asked me to imagine a Triforce with symbols on each of the triangles for courage and so forth. I went a step further and tried to mix each side of the Triforce as they become closer to the middle. I also tried to fill the outside of the Triforce with a color reminiscent of Demise from Skyward Sword. This painting was all acrylic on canvass, and here's a picture, before I put on the final coat of varnish:

Hybrid Triforce

Hopefully the picture isn't too large. I wanted to make sure that you could see all of the detail. I hid some faces in the hyroglyphics. How many do you see?

So I promised a deal with the community. Since every painting will be inspired by your requests, they can also be sold for any price that you chose. I'm just doing this for fun, so I have no problem giving my paintings away. I do like them a lot, yet I thought they could go to better use. I am not a professional  by any means, so I would not want to set my own price. If you like it, comment or message me what you think it's worth and the painting's yours. Just remember that each painting takes me a long time to produce, so try to make sure that it gets taken care of nicely.

If you don't like it, I understand too. Any thoughts on what painting you'd like to see next? I'm all yours.

I feel like you have to do a Clank painting before you explode.

So it was said, so it will be!

I have to get some new paint, because I ran out of some colors as I like to slop it on.

sigh, this just makes me wish I was brave enough to get a triforce tattoo.  Laughing

But it's a nice painting.  I always wished I could paint/draw.  My hands just can't do it.

Tattoos are a really permanent throng that is tough to deal with if you have some reservations. I'm pure too. No tattoos yet.

This is better than I envisioned when I suggested the idea. The hieroglyphs are cooler, the background is more striking, and it's very different in a good way. When I came up with the loose idea I imagined that the brush strokes would be very sharp and literal. I forgot what the painting terms are and what the simple drawing terms are, they aren't coming to mind, I think you'll know what I mean though. I have a creative mind like you, but mine is a different type, I see things more in terms of building, architecture, function, and puzzle pieces etc. I always imagine being in a creation kit, looking at geometry, straight lines, shapes, and putting rooms together, etc. So I imagined the triforce being very sharp, mathematical, but have some organic texture and symbols thrown in to spice it up. I honestly have a tough time making things look pretty when I build.

This painting turned out to be very organic and took a very different road than I thought up, and I think you made the painting better for it. Look at the lines. The edges of every triangle are very loose and it gives the whole painting a very free feeling, like it's breathing, like water flowing. I love the color purple, so the dark purple kind of background is right up my alley. The painting is a mix of the colorful Windwaker type of Zelda mixed in with some flavor and darkness from other Zeldas. Another reason it reminds me of Windwaker is the kind of watery free flowing vibe it gives off, so it's not just the color. As for the faces, I've only found one face so far, right in the lower portion of the middle triangle, but I'm looking for other faces still.

As far as the next painting idea goes, I think that seeing what you can do in this painting and what kind of spirit comes out of your paintings will help me have better ideas from here. Julian's idea of doing Clank is a really good one. He has simple, bright, contrasting colors, and fun shapes and lines. Whatever subject you paint on next, it should be something that allows you to use great color, apply your styles of brush strokes, and doesn't demand a kind of mathematical realism or rigid lines. Something free and colorful

You make me blush and saw right into the style that I was going for! I tried to make each section a watery, fiery, or leafy feel in the shape as well as the color, which is something better seen in person.

I counted at least six faces, but only four I made with subtle intent. One's winking in the water, the fire has an angry face with hands too, and the leaf has one eye open, for starters. ;)
