Kickstarter Lookouts

There is one title called Liege on Kickstarter that I read a bit about through an article on Gematsu. The game caught my interest since it was trying to get funding and was approved for a PS4/Vita port. I knew of course about Kickstarter for some other well-known developers who have gone to it and how it had become a huge thing for Indies. I didn’t pay much mind in checking it out and seeing how it’s structured. I am very intrigued and impressed more with it than Greenlight by the perks you can get for help funding it if it comes to fruition as well the goals that its set up to add things if it reaches a certain peak in funding. I plan on supporting a couple of games with some big money; well I wouldn’t say big money, but somewhere around 60 bucks to get something which could be considered special and more notably compared to collector’s editions that are sold by the thousands for AAA titles. This will be intimate and more personal to help out an Indie studio. It’s cool how the pledge gifts are set up and seem to get pretty crazy. It is impressive how someone would spend over a grand to help fund one game and people do and spent more.

Now there were a few that I have my eye on, most notably Liege as mentioned. I said that it attracted me because what it could potentially be ported to but also that it’s a tactical RPG. It has a cool art style and the combat looks like it could be really great. I see a lot of potential in it and I can tell it’s a passionate project. There is another very similar to LittleBigPlanet called Organic Panic. I see potential in it and it could potentially be on the 360, Wii U, PSN, and Vita. I find it hard to reach its goals to hit all platforms. Its funding seems to be going slowly. Lastly there is one getting support from David Jaffe with a sub-genre he is pretty familiar with. It is the vehicle combat game MotorGun. There is some interest other talent who made Interstate 76 and such. There is also Shadowrun Returns which should be exceptional and Obsidian Entertainment’s Project Eternity which made nearly 4 million. They all have surpassed their funding goals by a huge margin.

I would have likely put money down on Soul Saga but it had already closed its funding. Is there any games on Kickstarter that you are interested in?

backed project eternity, banner saga, wasteland 2, torment, shovel knight, and shadowrun returns.  Shovel knight and shadowrun are my most anticipated.  Shadowrun because it comes out next week and I have my steam key.  Shovel knight because it looks amazing.

Awesome. I see someone here has been a big Kickstarter supporter.

I backed Dead State (awesome looking zombie WRPG), Project Eternity, and some game I forget the name of because all I heard was "made by the head Spiderman 2 guy and focusing on grappling that will be just like Spiderman 2's web swinging." Wish I backed Wasteland 2 in hindsight.

You wish? I wish I started earlier doing any kind of supporting.

I personally have never backed anything on Kickstarter, but for some reason I'm always on that site looking at the games that people want to create.

It actually makes me wish I had the skills. My wife has the talent with graphic design. If I could do programming than I think we would be at a good start. Not going to happen though. I have ideas though.

I would back things if I had enough. I definitely don't.
