Kingdoms of Amalur at first glance may seem to be a diablo or sacred hearts clone but trust me its not, sure it has hack n slash combat but theres way more to it then that, the first thing that caught my eye in this game was the graphics, the graphics are stunning just flat out beautiful the colors and the pixie dust graphics are a delight and theres no recycled landscapes here, one minute your walking through a red desert the next in rocky mountains and then the swamp lush green water really the graphics are incredeble, and on top of that you have changing weather day and night cycles, awesome shadowing and just a sense of being in a fantasy world, dont get me wrong at night in a cemetary is creepy wandering through a dimly lit dungeon is dark and its all complemented by this sparkly kind of colorful world that just feels right.

The creatures are also incredebly detailed and colorful and some are just huge, maybe not in the Dragons Dogma sense but huge for the world there set in and i might add you wont see these creatures in your typcle rpg thats for sure, the music in this game is done well and very appropriate for the time period, the voice acting is top notch and done very well, the citys and towns are done very well and you interact with townfolks get quest and get movie plots for the main quest, this game is massive im 60+ hours into this game and have barely really got anywhere, not to mention the dlc out for it which are two as of now which are The Teeth of Naros which is named for a mountain range that looks like teeth, then theres the legend of dead kael which is a pirate themed add on which are both huge add ons and very much worth the money.

hi, if you resize your images, so that they aren't so wide, they won't stretch out the text so it bleeds onto the ads on the right side of the page....    I know because this happened to me.

I really liked that game as well. I think the problem with it is that people viewed it as a WoW clone, which wasn't really true mechanically. It's really too bad that the studio went bankrupt because of that.

Yes Kingdom of Amalur should have got a much bigger welcoming in the world then it did at first I thought maybe bad advertising but the had adds in game informer and alot of other mags, but really alot of gamers are missing out on an awesome game and they really should at the very least check out the dem.

I love this game, still going through it at the moment. It's such a big world that I am easily side tracked by the side missions and such. It is a game for anyone who enjoys massive world RPGs should pick up.

I really enjoyed this game.  I finished half of it including sidequests, I'm not even sure why I stopped playing.  This is definitely my "sleeper hit" of 2012.  I'm glad you posted some love for the game with excellent pics.

I'm thinking about covering KoA: Reckoning on Backloggers at some point, so keep an eye out for that one. I haven't played it yet, but I did have a good time with the demo.

I didn't like the demo. Is this another case where the demo hurt the perception of actual gameplay? I must say that I love everyone involved with the project including the writer Salvator of D&D fame. I want to like the game, honestly, but...I need convincing. Maybe a few extra blog posts perhaps...Frown
