Dawn of Mana developed and published by Square Enix, this game is part of Square Enix world of mana project, children of mana, heroes of mana and freinds of mana, the game was released in the US in May 24,2007.

Dawn of Mana is on the island of Illusia, a place where the giant mana tree lies dormant. Much of the story takes place on Fa'Diel, a continent composed of the five nations of Jadd,Topple, Ishe, Wendell, and Lorimar. A village in the land of Illusia is attacked by the Lorimar King Stroud. Some residents of the village, named Keldric and Ritzia, try to go for help, but they are captured before they get far. Stroud is looking for the key to Movolia, a land of darkness sealed away for centuries. Keldric and Ritzia are able to escape to go for help, soon after, they meet Faye, a spirit child, who joins them for the remainder of the game. Unfortunately, Ritza is soon recaptured by Stroud.

Dawn of Mana is structured into chapters, each with 5 segments, there are 8 chapters in total and upon completion of one, the player is graded on there performance. The player may opt to do the chapter, or segments of a chapter, again in the main menue after beating the game. And your stats and equipment are reset to 0 and the level is reset to 1 upon entering a new chapter.

Dawn of mana also uses the mono system utilizing the Havok engine seen in Half Life 2 that allows the player to greatly interact with the 3d inviroment.

The games audio scores Seiken Densetsu 4 original soundtrack: Sanctuary was released on Jan 24, 2007 a large portion was composed by Kenji Ito the voice acting although far from great is not bad and serves the game fine although at times it has a childish theme but done ok. The graphics are crisp and bright and look nice and by todays standards holds up surprisingly well and wont dissapoint. The character design was done awesome and is really one of the best parts of the game, and really the only thing i found wrong was the controls were a little strange, the leveling system lacks, and the camera was aweful, so bottom line the story and the game is very good if you can get past the camera, controls and leveling system, there is fun to be had here, its not bad but not great either.

My Score 3 out of 5 decent

Its not a bad game its actually pretty good the controls are weird but you get use to them really the only thing not so good is the stupid camera gets hung or in the way and the leveling vould have been better.

Actually have been doing a playthrough of Secret of Mana the past few days, and I had totally forgotten about this game; thanks for bringing it back into my periphery!

I just looked up interesting games for PS2. Dawn of Mana was 2007 but there were some RPGs and strategy games worth checking out all the way through 2009! What a lifespan PS2 had!

Is this game single player only? That's definitely a knock against a Mana game after other games in the series have had such stellar co-op. Still, I wouldn't mind having it even if I never get around to playing it.

I always loved the Mana series, but in my eyes, none of the seqels will ever outdo the original Secret of Mana on SNES (Although it's technically the second game in the franchise, the first being Final Fantasy Adventure via Gameboy). Seiken Densetsu 3 was also great, it's just a shame that it never saw the light of day here in the US other than a translated rom.

Secret of mana by far the best in the mana series, i have fond memories of that game.
