Comic-Con & Your Chance at a Bruce Lee Code

So I won a contest over on Dragon1989's blog regarding a %15 off redeem code for brucelee.com. Here's the thing: I only won cause I was the only one to comment I think, and while I'd love to buy Enter the Dragon to get myself acquainted with the man's work, I'm really trying to watch my finances, and the things I'd use the code on would probably be cheaper without shipping anyway.

Plus, I feel a bit awkward accepting a prize meant for "hardcore fans" of Bruce Lee when I really only have a perfunctory knowledge of his work.

SO, I've decided that since the inital contest was about telling a fact only Lee fans would know, I'll have a "pass it on" contest, where you guys can tell me the coolest fact abut Bruce Lee you can think of, and I'll decide, from a totally subjective perspective, who wins. Just say "I want the code!" in the comments below and tell me a Bruce Lee fact.

In other news,

SurprisedLaughingCry <--- The last one is me realizing I likely won't have cable or a TV upon moving into my apartment. And even if they stream it, my laptop might not be able to handle it well unless it ends up on Youtube, and with licensing issues ... fingers crossed for a new laptop.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited, but I didn't like The Dark Knight Rises or Man of Steel as much as a lot of other people. If you want to know my problems with them you can ask, but I'd be repeating a lot of criticisms you've likely heard before. I did like Rises quite a bit better, though it had its flaws; Man of Steel was honestly kind of meh to me, and I actually went into that one with low expectations because of reviews (I was pretty hyped prior to those), so that wasn't the problem.

BUT Man of Steel did have really good, adrenaline-inducing action, and Nolan certainly made a great trilogy (Dark Knight is still my favorite comic book movie, with Batman Begins probably close behind; I need to marathon the trilogy soon) and universe with his Batman movies, plus Bale is not returning, meaning the lozenge throat might not need to be a thing for Batman any more. Although, my theory is Nolan might have done that intentionally to point out that Batman is a crazy-person, but it's still laughable and I hope they stop having whoever plays Batman from doing it. I'm guessing since it's releasing relatively soon (yes, two years is fairly soon when you're talking about making a franchise movie like this), it just might be JGL.

People have been guessing it will be some sort of Superman vs. Batman plot, and I hope so; that way they can differentiate the two personality-wise a bit more.

I don't really like the logo as it stands, but they have two years to change it, so I'm not real concerned about that.

Anyway, let me know your Bruce Lee facts if you want the redemption code, and let me know what you think of these SDCC announcements.

I still gotta catch up on Air Bender,so maybe by then L O K with be on Netflix .It looks incredible. Have yet to see Superman and like you i have "issues" with the Nolan Bat trilogy, like lozenge voice ,lol. Batman is supposed to be calm & cool, not a screaming, pissed, rageaholic. My brother is a big Bruce Lee fan, and myself to a lesser degree. So a fact about Bruce was he created his own marial arts style called Jeet Kun Do, which focuses on speed and attacking the closest target on ones opponet.

To be fair, apparently the comics have often made Batman kind of insane; granted, I think a lot of those instances were the "I'm the Goddamn Batman" Batman that that guy that wrote 300 whose name I can't remember did. Apparently, a lot of comic fans' problem with that movie was the fact Batman quit at all.

And yeah, Airbender is a great series, and LOK has the best animation I think I have ever seen as far as my personal tastes.

I sent you the code. Lemme know if it's in your messages, so I know it got to you.

I have come to eccept movies based on literature and comics to be kind of like cover songs. Some do the original justice and some just butcher the hell out of them. But yeah I think Nolan just took way too many creative liberties with his interpration of the characters.

That is fair, especially considering I really don't know that much about the comics. Only one I own was Batman Noel, which was a birthday gift.

I thought this was a nice little nugget on Bruce Lee.

I don't want the code though.  That site is expensive.  I can find Bruce Lee movies at a cheaper price.  There really aren't that many of them.  I think I already own most of them. Laughing

I think I have seen that before, good story! I can't always hear through Jackie's accent, but I wonder how true it is that he was "pretending" to be hurt. lol I'll believe it, since it's Jackie Chan. Sounds like Bruce Lee was a nice guy.

Finally Korra!

And Superman/Batman... eh? I don't know, unless Krytonite and Luthor are involved Batman is worthless.

Yeah, September!

And I hope kryptonite and Luthor are not involved, so tired of that thread. They can find other ways to make Batman not worthless I think.

KORRA! KORRA! KORRA!

As for Batman/Superman, I don't know much information, so I can't comment on that. I'll keep my hype low, even if I did really liked DKR and Man of Steel.

I think if you really liked them both, you would really like whatever they come up with, but hey, keeping expectations low always helps with the pleasant surprise factor.

I know that Bruce Lee was obsessed with getting himself to a bodyfat percentage of zero for a while. His wife and doctor told him it was unhealthy and pretty much impossible. In the film Dragon:The Bruce Lee Story there was a scene where he was wearing a tens unit to stimulate his muscles while he was writing. I read that was part of his daily routine in addition to an intensely fat-free diet.

Yeah, zero fat would just be stupid. Getting a shot would really hurt in that instance.

Not sure about Bruce Lee myself. Just that the outfit used by the lead actress in the fight scene in Japan was in reference to a Bruce Lee movie. Don't remember the name so I fail.

After hearing what became of "Man of Steel" I'm mostly guarded on the news of this crossover. AFter seeing the Avengers I have to say I can't be but excited though it's a bummer Christian Bale won't continue to be Batman. I would if I was Batman, I'd always be Batman. Because I'm Batman...

I'm kind of glad Bale won't continue as Batman, honestly; to me, he was a good Bruce Wayne, but he didn't really ... I dunno, something about him in those movies just didn't stand out to me, aside from the voice, which ...
