Who is your all-time favorite protagonist in gaming?

Vincent Brooks from Catherine. While he's not a "hero" in the strictest sense, he's a fantastic, multifaceted protagonist. Instead of battling hordes of aliens/demons/zombies, he instead has to battle himself when in the nightmare world, and the way it all translates to the real world and vice versa, is just amazing. His reactions to things are so human - the panic you hear in his voice during the nightmare segments is so believable, you start to fear for him - and since you're controlling him - yourself too. Catherine overall is such an amazing game, if you haven't played it, go play it right now.

Samus, or Sora, or Gordon Freeman, or Jak, or Ratchet, but mostly just Samus.

Yuri from Shadow Hearts. Second would by Jade from BG&E.

For me it's gotta be Solid Snake. There's plenty more that jump out at me like Nathan Drake, Crash Bandicoot, Lara Croft, Cloud, even Squall, but Snake is just plain bad ass

Gordon Freeman, Zidane, Mario, Tidus, I don't know, this one is tough. :)

NO No no no, no Tidus :P Though I do plan on buying the X and X-2 HD remakes, I figure I'll give those games another shot, but we'll see :P

Laughing   he's annoying at first, but he grows on you and... well, you have to finish the game.

Ooh, that's hard. Samus is a likely choice. Otherwise...man, that's hard Yell

Red from Pokemon. Straight up, the most gangster person I've ever seen.

Gene from God Hand. The only character that made me want to get a tattoo like he has to represent his arm that has the power of the God Hand.

John Marston my man is a good one i really adapted to him. And Vincent from Catherine would easily be second.

Kinda limited because of my little gaming scope, but it's probably Mario, Link (Twilight Princess version more exactly), Samus, Sonic, Kirby, Big Boss (from what i've played of Peace Walker) and/or Master Chief. Raz (Psychonauts) is also a candidate, but I gotta play more of that game.

Lightening. By far the best character from the best Final Fantasy game.

These two, hands down. Kirby is the all-time favorite for a lovable character that transitions between gaming genres and gameplay styles seemlessly, and John Marston in terms of a character and story-driven protagonist.

Definitely Solid Snake from MGS. I'll buy systems just for MGS games practically. Awesome character and David Hayter is iconic as his voice.
