Hello Pixlbit!

I did not realize it has been since May that I have posted.  But I've been busy busy busy.  Like a little gray haired bumble bee.  First off, my wife's car stopped running. It was over 10 years old and I decided not to put any more money into repairing it. So we bought a new one.  Man, cars have gotten very exspensive.  But at least when the weather cools down we can safely take a few road trips.

And speaking of cool, a few days after buying a car my home central A/C unit starts acting up. It's over 25 years old and I got it repaired last year and the man didnt reccommend putting anymore money in it. It still works but it doesnt cool off the house very good. So I bought a window unit for the bedroom.

And that is where I now do most of my gaming. I have a little 10-12 inch TV and my PS2 hooked up in the bedroom and that is where I spend the majority of my time while Im at home.

And the game I just finished is Call of Duty 2 Big Red One.

What an awesome game

You follow the Army fighting force known as the Big Red One from battles in North Africa, through Italy, storm the beaches at Normandy and then end up in Germany.  It's an intense experience and it has a bit of realism because you are following a bunch of the same guys through the entire campagin.

Gameplay was good, graphics  are good and the sound is excellent. storyline is awesome. It does not have regenerating health which is also good.  It mixes it up a bit theoughout the game. You will drive and fight in a tank,  an airplane bomber and use a  flak gun and on foot.

An excellent WW2 shooter.

YOTS

Year of the Snake is not dead. I just put it on the back burner for a bit so I wouldnt burn out and or finish too soon.  I need two more trophies in MGS3 to platinum. And speaking of Snake. I broke my vow to not warch anything MGS V related but how could I help but not see where Kiefer Sutherland is voicing Big Boss in MGSV? So I watched a few vids and I got angry but then I started thinking. Sutherland is voicing Big Boss....But Big Boss and  Snake have appeared in three games together. So who is to say David Hayter wont make an apperance as Snake in MGSV?  Hideo Kojima is a very crafty person after all.

I can't wait for the end of Summer and things start to cool down.  which is what I am going to do now. Cool down in my bedroom and take a nap.

Game on and see ya next time.

Hello to you Sir.

Not having David Hayter voicing Snake is... I don't, kind of wrong, since he has done that since 1998 (if I am not mistaken). But let's see what Kojima-san is up to, the guy never let us gamers down in the awesomeness, I don't think he will start now :)

JD.. I am not happy about David Hayter not voicing Snake but then again, He's actually not voicing Big Boss.  Solid Snake may still be in the picture...who knows.

Hey Grayhaired.  I miss those AAA World War 2 games.  whatever happened to them?

GrayHaired

07/25/2013 at 07:16 PM

Matt:  I tell you what happened to them, eveyone wanted online multiplayer and the developers caved to the whiney cry baby masses. Most gamers don't even play story mode on shooters anymore and the story takes a backseat!  Hhahahah.  Congrats on your new position here at PB!

Good to see you, Mr. Gray don't be a stranger! I was interested in Big Red One but never got to it. I have to say its waaay down the backlog, but maybe someday.

Chris:  Thank you.  I probably would have never played BR1 if my A/C had not gone on the blink. Since Im stuck playing my PS2 Im knocking out that backlog.  But not to worry, the BR1 will be just as awesome when you do decide to play it.

Glad to see you around again. Hate when things break down, glad you could sort it out, though!

Looking forward to more YOTS posts, and yeah, Kojima is crafty. Who knows, maybe he is pulling a Raiden but in this case Raiden is a Snake voiced by Hayter. Anything can happen.

Joe:  I plan on playing a few Silent Hill titles and then it's back to YOTS and yeah, I plan on more posts and crazy vids when I do jump back in.  I am really hoping Hideo is pulling a fast one and will somehow include David hayter in MGSV

I was wondering what happened to you.

I picked up Metal Gear Solid - The Legacy Collection (PS3).  I plan to start from the beginning of the whole series and play the games all the way through after I finish with Mass Effect 3 this last time. Laughing  I tried playing MGS4 a few weeks ago, but I couldn't get into it.  It had been too long since I played any MG games, so I was confused about what was going on.  I'm going to get back into the series by starting over.  Wish me luck. Cool

GrayHaired

James:  I plan on buying the Legacy collection as soon as I find one.  But seriously..Play Metal Gear Solid (PS1)  First!  I dont care what people say about chronological order.  If you play the others first MGS1 probably wont have the same appeal.  Plus, really, who cares about the story...its all screwy anyway...hahahahah.  I say Play them as they were released.  MGS1...MGS2...MGS3  MGS4.  You will be fine with that...I promise.    shucks, now I have to play a Mass Effect game!

jgusw

07/25/2013 at 09:15 PM

I was planning to play Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid, MGS2, MGS3, and then MGS4.

GrayHaired

07/25/2013 at 10:01 PM

James:  Yeah, that would work. After I played MGS1 and then started playing Metal Gear it was fun to see that most of what is in MGS1 actually started in Metal Gear. I'm playing through Metal Gear(PS2) now.   The developers know that we dont know the story so they do a good job explaining it out out of chronological order.  Does MGS Peace Walker come in the legacy collection?  For some reason, I havent played that game finished yet and I have it twice!

jgusw

07/26/2013 at 08:54 AM

I forgot about Peace Walker.  It's on there too.  I guess I'll play it after I play MGS3.  I also own Portable Ops (PSP).  I don't know when I'll play it.

GrayHaired

07/26/2013 at 05:12 PM

I like Portable Opps way better than Peace Walker but I can't say why because it would spoil it for you.

I just opened my Legacy Collection and realized, MGS1 is not on the disc.  Konami gives you a voucher for MGS1 and MGS: VR Missions.  I wish they were all on the disc.

I somewhat miss those days of playing my ps2 on an itty-bitty screen.  Probably more because I miss the ps2 games.

GrayHaired

07/25/2013 at 08:45 PM

Transmet:   It is so nice to plop the game in my PS2 and just start playing!  No updates no patches, no downloads....and the small screen looks good and its just fun to play what is considered old school games now....plus, they are cheap!

transmet2033

That might be exactly why I have been spending so much time with my Wii.  I have not had to update a single game yet, only download some games from the virtual console.

Need to play these past CoD titles. Just want to make sure I get them all on the same system. Need to see if Big Red One is on Xbox.

talk about MGS yet not a peep from you about the ultimate collection of this game out now! for shame!

run them till they die I say! It's what I did with my last car and AC. their final moments were awesome (and explosive)

NSonic:  I know...I havent mentioned the Legacy collection.  One resaon is that I havent seen it anywhere around here?   I do believe COD BR1 is on the xbox 360.  I want to say i saw a bundle with three early titles of COD for the xbox 360.  Maybe it's on that bundle?

My central A/C is on its last summer. But the car went first so It got top priority.

And as I looked out into the mist I saw a lone figure approach, it had been some time since I saw that cheeky gorilla grin....... but he had finally returned. Glad to see you popping in GH it's been a while but makes your apperance all the sweeter. The older COD games have a charm that the new ones lost some time ago, I'm inspired to venture back there myself after reading this!

GrayHaired

07/27/2013 at 09:09 AM

Hey Chunopo!   hahahha   I hope to post more often,  I didnt mean to be gone so long.  I am giving my PS2 some love and rediscovering how much fun those old games are and how they still stand the test of time.  Im trying to play Silent Hill Origins but it is kicking my butt!  hahahahah

Glad you're back on here, good to see ya. I can sympathize on the AC unit as we had to replace ours a few years back. Ended up costin 7,000 bucks! Hurt the old savings but had to be done. Cool that you got a new car, that is always nice in summer. Those early COD games are so good. That team went all out on them. Had something to prove,as some of them had left the Medal Of Honor development group. I love that one in particular.
