Well, we have the family gathered for Sunday and my parents are watching PBS. This show called Endeavour is on via something called Masterpiece Mystery!, and my mom thought this one singer sounded like Adele. Dad and I said no, and she got upset, cause last time I told her she was wrong about something like this, I was wrong, and in both instances dad sided with me, cause I'm seen as the "media expert" in the household I guess, what with my Radio/TV degree and the fact I was reading movie reviews at age three.

The last time we had a bet like this, I was saying Amy Adams was Pam from The Office (the American one, for those of you more familiar with Ricky Gervais's original), and she correctly stated it was not. It was Jenna Fischer.

In my defense, I still think they look pretty damn similar.

Look, maybe you can tell, but I promise you I will forget which is which when I come back to this blog, since I did not label them. And no, it does not matter one is paler, has blue eyes as opposed to what looks like hazel, and has thicker eyebrows even in these two pictures. They both look pretty though, I will give them that, and I think they are both great actresses, especially Amy Adams in The Master. ... and yes, I'm lying and can totally tell it's Amy Adams that's on the right, but you all can see how I'd make that mistake, right?

This time, however, I was right. Adele had nothing to do with the song, titled "Dance for You."

So there; that bet I won, and I knew I would.

On a more somber note, I want to say R.I.P. Kid Kraddick. I can not say that I listened to his show too often, but the few times I did, I can say I was entertained, and it's cool to have that kind of personality coming from near Dallas, TX, where I grew up.

Other than that, expect either some movie vlogs or blogs to come soon. I am still going to try getting on sxephil or SourceFedNerd's Movie Clubs, and I've also seen a couple movies recently in theaters. At some point, I will reveal a ranked list of summer movies I saw, and a list of ones I want/wanted to see.

I also want to turn my old "My Gaming Timeline" blogs into a vlog/Youtube series of some sort. I'll see if that happens.

Finally, I am in the market for a new laptop, I'd say. Mine still works, but is very old and slow. I am really considering a Samsung Chromebook for $249, or maybe its 3G counterpart for $329. They'd both have basic video editing through Youtube's editor, which is the only "Special" thing I would need outside of basic internet and Office (word processing etc.) functionality.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions. Feel free to suggest anything up to $700, but try to make it lower than that if you can. I have enough that I COULD get something like that, but I am also in debt and about to take on more with this Master's program, hence why I'm heavily leaning towards a Chromebook. Maybe you know a better option for the long haul though, or know of good refurbished deals. At least the apartment and Station Manager job are lined up already.

I can see how you could mistake Jenna Fischer for Amy Adams. I really love Amy Adams, but I couldn't get into The Master. That movie was weird. Did you look at Dell's website? They might have some good laptops for cheap.

I have an old Dell, and I don't know how good the new ones are, but I will look into it.

And yeah, i left The Master kind of going ... "huh?" but it was well-made and I really liked Amy Adams in it. She was frightening in that movie.

chrome books are cool, but if you had a little more money to spend, I would get a real PC and have the ability to use real PC software and stuff.  YOu never know what you might need in the future, and PC's just have more utility.  But I do understand the coolness of a chromebook.  I just personally need a PC for the projects I work on, etc.

AMy Adams is hot.  Need to see the MAster.

You might appreciate it more than Aaron and I, I suppose. The acting and the way it's made are top-notch, but it is weird and for me at least, it was a  bit confusing. Not so mcuh that I couldn't follow it, but more "I wonder what the point of all this is."

I love all his films.  The Master is the only one I haven't seen.  My favorite is Punch Drunk Love though.

I remember my family rented that and HATED it. The only scene I really remember from it was the phone sex scene, and at the time it just didn't look like the tone of movie I wanted to watch. In fact, that is probably one of those movies where I remember myself and especially the older people who watched it saying, "Jesus Christ, what is wrong with these movie critics, they said this was supposed to be funny?!"

I might like it if I watched it now, though.

Of PTA's movies, I have only fully seen The Master and There Will Be Blood. My friend's favorite movie of all time is Boogie Nights, but I never seem to be able to find it.

he's a great director.  his movies are all pretty different.  Magnolia is good too, but it's intense.

I had a crappy old netbook that I was getting frustrated with.  It would take a good long while to just open an application.  On a whim I decided to say goodbye to windows and installed Ubuntu.  I added an extra year and a half onto that crappy old thing.

Well, my friend Austin has a Chromebook and seems happy with his. I wouldn't buy a non-Google notebook, as I haven't heard good things, but his seems to work fine, I've used it.

Is just basic word processing and video editing all you need? If so, the Chromebook is a good choice, but I would see myself springing for something with a bit more functionality. Tell me what your basic needs are and I can reccommend something good.

The only reason I would need a higher-end laptop down the line would be so that it could operate a higher-end video editing software like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere.

Really great song you posted. The singer had a great voice and I liked the jazzy feeling.

Being from Dallas, are you familiar with the radio show of Walton and Johnson?  They are based in Houston now but we still get them here in Mississippi

I have not heard much of anything good about Windows 8 and don't really need a touch screen. So I don't think so on that one, but I haven't tried one myself, so who knows?
