I'm in the same boat as you, Tomb Raider just hasn't appealled to me until now. This game looks as if it's going to take a woman and release her inner survival instincts.
Tomb Raider 2013

At announcement, my interest in the Tomb Raider reboot was about a 2 on a scale of 10. Couldn't put my finger on it, but something about the Tomb Raider series never really appealed to me. Well, now that's all in the past.
It started a few years back, about 2001. My uncle was playing for the first time what I would eventually come to acknowledge as the second iteration in the Tomb Raider series, aptly named Tomb Raider II. (Originally released in 1997). My intial thought was, "why isn't there any music?...." And "why is this old guy following her around?" Naturally, all this was taking place at Lara's tutorial-like mansion, and that old guy? Winston. Her butler. But being about six years old, I knew none of this. The thought of this old guy following her around with nothing but the eerie sound of cups rattling was quite frankly, a little disturbing. The humor was completely lost on me, and I was thoroughly creeped out. Therefore I returned to my aunt's side to continue watching her play Final Fantasy X.
No wonder people always wanna lock this guy in the freezer...
Fast forward a little over 10 years later, and I couldn't be more excited for the newest Tomb Raider game.
I hadn't been tracking the progress of this game until very recently. 5 days ago to be exact. Since then I've watched every trailer, gameplay demonstration, and preview. I've even managed to secure $60 from a friend (aka ex-boyfriend who owes me big time) so I can procure the game on launch day. (March 5th)
The reviews are starting to trickle in and I'm glad to see it's doing well so far. Can't wait.
