The Day "Teh" Xbox 360 Elite Died...Again...

Talk about bad timing...AGAIN...

It's interesting that a few blogs back I did a GameRig1Update about how I got my old Xbox 360 Elite fixed up and upgraded in the process. I had also purchased a new 250GB HDD in preparation for Microsoft's "Games with Gold" program and was looking forward to keeping my new system till the final days.

But then tragedy struck!

I happen to boot up my system right on August 1st to DL my free copy of Crackdown when I was greeted with the image you see at the beginning of this blog. I could not believe it. I just got that system fixed back in feburary and it does this to me again! So I turn it off and on again to see if it was by chance doing what my "Little One"s Xbox 360 did a month back. But sadly my system remains stubborn and keeps giving me the same error message on GameRig One, ver. 2.0.

It's the SAME DAMNABLE MESSAGE I got back in October 2011!

Though it is a bit different this time around. Last time I got this message it actually took up the entire size of GameRig One, Ver. 2.0's TV screen. This time it only takes up a centered portion of the screen. So perhaps this E 73 code is different the first E 73 I got back in 2011. Either way it doesn't make any difference, I have another Xbox 360 console dead. But this time around it didn't last a whole year after being repaired! I'm right now trying to locate the original reciept of the repair work to check and see I got some sort of warranty on the repair. I'm not keeping much faith that there was any, plus I recall they asked if I wanted an extended warranty service but turned it down figuring their work would last.

I guess I was wrong.

So where does this leave me now? I'm almost to the point of giving up at the moment. I spent over $100 on getting this system repaired/upgraded only for it to die a little over six months. I'm not sure about getting a new one just yet given how I'd want a system with swap out memory. Plus my 360 Elite holds some sentimental value to me. If I had to I'd like to get one that is the final revision of the system. Though I'd prefer to get my Elite fixed. There's no way I'd take it back to the place where I originally got it "repaired". I'm not sure I'd trust another local place again yet I don't want to mail my system off somewhere. Plus I fear if I actually did send my system to a Micosoft repair center they might just replace it with a newer model.

So far the time being I'm just going to go without a Xbox 360 for now. I'll use my "Little One"s 360 system to DL the "Games with Gold" offerings in the coming months. And if that fails I'll just log into my Xbox.com account on my PC and set it up there. I won't go into the trouble to DL the game onto my actual HDD since I'd have to do it again just to reverify it on whichever system I decide on in the future. I'll just cancel it just as it's confirmed in my download history.

Or just perform a digital rights transfer, whichever makes things less complicated.

So far now I'll be showing a bit more love toward my PS3 and Wii in the time being. They have been a bit neglected as of late. Plus I did upgrade the PS3's HDD, might as well see about adding more games off PSN on that system.

Now if you'll excuse me I need a moment of silence...again..

RIP

Looks for wood to knock on... So far, so good with my original 120 GB Elite. I think it loves me, because even with all the dust and pet hair it has had to contend with from day 1, it still keeps humming along.

You are very lucky indeed. I didn't have any pets to worry about and I vacuumed/airdusted my systems regularly. And yet my 120GB Elite still died. Twice.

Count your blessings. for I thought the same myself with mine when I heard stories the stories of systems dying where mine stayed alive.

ARGHHHHHH!!!! Yell  I'm sorry to hear that man. It didn't even last a year after being repaired?! I feel bad about my comment on your other blog now. At least you still got your PS3 and Wii though.

It is indeed. It changes my plans for later this fall. fix my system and cut down on games or the reverse? What a pickle indeed.

Sucks man. Hope you can do something to fix the console.

But, now that there's a Wii avaiable, maybe look if you have a copy of Super Mario Galaxy....

I hope so too. I don't really want to send it in and I'm hoping to find a different local place to try. But then again I have yet to play Super Mario Galaxy..

Thank you for your kind words. I guess you won't be seeing me on Xbox Live for awhile now. And when I was trying to meet new friends too!

Sorry that happened to you. My son and I have both had 360's die on us,so we can sympathize with you. At least Microsoft hooked us up with refurbished units. Last year we both bought the 250 gig shiny one. If those ever kick the bucket I will scream....and pout.

Wish MS would hook me up with a repair job. right now I'm looking at 99 unless their beta broke my system. Could really use the fix but money is tight right now, or could be used for game buys. thank you for your condolences. Hope your shiny system keeps well!
