Games Beaten

-Golden Axe (PSN) (PS+)

This classic is fun if rather still. The beat-'em-up genre has sure come a long way!

-Portal 2 co-op (360)

I beat the single-player in 2011 when the game first came but never had anyone to play the co-op with...until now! Someone gave my older brother a 360 last year, so I got him Portal 2 for his birthday this year. Co-op was awesome and GLaDOS was hilarious, of course.

-Borderlands 2 (360)

The wife and I have been working on this one for a little while now and finally finished it up. Lots of fun here. Not sure if we'll go for any of the DLC though. I mean, there are still new postgame missions. I could see us replaying this though.

Games Bought

-Battlefield 3 (PS3) (PS+)

-Rockstar Table Tennis (360)

$2 at a yard sale!

-Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)

Woot! And...

-Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS)

$30 eShop credit! Which went for...

-Shantae (3DS eShop - GBC)

-Zelda: Oracle of Ages (3DS eShop - GBC)

-Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (3DS eShop - GBC)

And I still have some left Laughing

Now Playing

-PaRappa the Rapper (PSP)

No matter how many times I play that bathroom level, I can't seem to beat it. Argh! PaRappa does not seem very consistent in its timing and I am no good at freestyling, that's for sure.

-Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)

Our own Cary Woodham urged me to move to my wife's town and I'm glad I did! I hadn't played an Animal Crossing game since the GameCube, but I've really enjoyed New Leaf. I may not get to do all the mayoral things but working on my house and fishing and whatnot is still awfully fun too Smile

-Gods Eater Burst (PSP) (PS+)

I started playing this after Temperance told me about Adhoc Party on the PS3, which lets you play local multiplayer PSP games over the internet. Pretty cool! I even played with him once, which was a lot of fun, but I haven't touched the game since then (sorry, man, I promise I'll get back to it!) because I've been spending most of my time with...

-Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)

SMT IV is my introduction to the MegaTen series proper and I must say that I am quite impressed. The battles are challenging but fair and the system of recruiting and fusing demons offers tons of strategic depth. I am really enjoying it.

And that's it for July! I'm hoping to play Mirror's Edge this month because Backlogger's Anonymous is finally ready for it. But first I think I'll get in some more time with SMT IV...

Awwww yea! Golden Axe rules! Nice pickups too! You might want to take it easy with Mirror's Edge. That game can be frustrating. Once you get the hang of it though it's really satisfying and fun.... but I wouldn't recommend going for the platinum trophy. Talk about an absolute nightmare!!!! Yell

Thanks! Yeah, I'll just be going through the main game. Who's got time for platinum trophies? Tongue Out

In the rain and in the snow, I got the funky flow, but now I really gotta go! LOL

Hey I got Shantae and the two Oracle games plus Shantae Risky's Revenge.

Big ups for getting into SMT IV and AC New Leaf. New Leaf is the bane of my existence right now. It won't let me go!

My 3DS is getting a LOT of use right now and that probably won't be changing any time soon.

I need to buy the Zelda Oracle games one of these days.

I was so glad when they came out on the eShop because they were kind of pricey before that. Looking forward to playing them.

It's pretty awesome. Thanks for the extra push, Cary!

Really need to upgrade to a 3DS, was watching a demo for Fire Emblem Awakening today, that game looks really cool. Shin Megumi IV is another one I must play.

Yes, you do! But make sure you get an XL. It's definitely worth the little extra it costs Smile

For sure, I was already wanting to get the DSXL even after the original 3DS came out. I'm getting old, my DS lite is too small, makes my hands cramp up if I play it too long, plus a bigger screen is always a plus.

I'm very impressed you finished Borderlands 2. My son and I have been working on it for a long time. But then,we get the DLC as it comes along. So it just keeps on going as we complete areas. Shin Megami Tensei IV will be an introduction for me too. Never taken on any games in that series. You will have fun with Mirror's Edge....it is a blast to play.

There is plenty in Borderlands 2 we didn't do. I always wanted to do side quests but my wife would get bored and want to do the story missions lol. And I am looking forward to Mirror's Edge Smile

The side missions can be pretty fun and amusing. Not to mention the blue uniques you get on some those missions can be really cool like Moxxi's Rubi pistol or Moxxi's endowment relic. Actually all of the Moxxi items are worth getting. Not to mention its a good way to get some easy exp if your trying to lv up.

Love the oracle games for the gbc.  I wonder if I still have a copy of them in my pile of game boy games...  I also have been thinking about playing mirror's edge as well.

I've always heard good things about the Oracles games, so I'm excited to try them for myself Smile

Though I do know the mechanics of Strategy RPGs, i'm not really an expert and I haven't played much of them. Do you think Fire Emblem: Awakening is a good start?. Same with SMT IV, but that one is from an RPG stand-point in general.

daftman

08/05/2013 at 06:29 PM

I haven't played any Fire Emblem games yet, so I'm not the best person to answer that question Frown I'm confident just from what I've read, though, that Awakening is definitely a good place to jump into its series. Same with SMT IV, though yeah, its more of a traditional RPG rather than a strategy one.

Wow, you got some great pickups for $30!!

I have yet to finish Borderlands 2. I've started it three times, and I've never once been able to finish it for some reason...

You're not trying to play Borderlands 2 by yourself, are you? I think that game would really start to drag if played solo. Add in some friends and it's instant fun Smile

I tried it once solo, once with my wife, and once with a friend (Who I beat Borderlands 1 with). All three attempts at beating Borderlands 2 have ended in failure for me, lol

daftman

That's rough lol. Good luck with attempt number 4!

Alwas wanted the zelda games if only to try them out on my GBA player. any good on the 3DS though?

I haven't played the Zeldas yet but I did try out the first level of Shantae. Plays really well. The Virtual Console on 3DS allows save states, so that's pretty cool.
